Self Assessment
Context- Excellent
In this project, I think my context skills have been excellent. I kept on top of my work in this area and made sure my understanding of the context was relevant to my project, for example learning about the history of the genres I was tailoring my music towards.
Research- Good
My research here stayed consistent and I was always learning new things to do with production, mixing, mastering and even promotion. To get my research to excellent, I could have done some more specific research on mixing and mastering techniques, for example; more research into compressing and using equalisers.
Practical Skills- Excellent
My final products for this project, I think, were very impressive given that I had very little production and mixing knowledge, especially with Ableton. The fact that I have managed to produce and mix two singles, promote them, generate forms of artwork and also release them professionally shows my motivation and dedication to this final project.
Evaluation And Reflection- Excellent
As well as my products being high quality, I made sure my weekly and final product evaluations for both of my songs were in a lot of depth. They explained everything that I did in great detail, showing why and how I achieved that. My targets were concise and I tried my best to hit them every week.
Overall Grade- Good
As a whole, I think this was definitely my strongest project, but my research is bringing my grade down. I should have done more research into things like promotion, and more specific research on mixing and even mastering. I also could have also made minor improvements to the practical side but overall I think this project went very well.
