Monday
Notes: Worked on the first song, got structure and instrumentation down. Went very well given that Lucy wasn’t in as we bounce ideas off each other. Bassline could do with refining as I don’t think it will fit well with the song, needs to be more simplified and minimal, taking inspiration from Duster here.
Wednesday
Notes: Made a ghost track for the first song, didn’t have access to an audio interface so had to improvise and use a grand piano MIDI sound.
Thursday
Notes: Started on the second song, made a structure and worked on instrumentation. Made a simple ghost track on Ableton that we can use. Thought of some melody ideas for the first song with a tutor, potentially a trumpet counter-melody after the verse lyrics to fill that empty space. Started working on a logo, progress is coming along very well (see this page https://digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk/10626680/artwork-and-branding-logs).
Evaluation
Targets
-Finish the third song before the end of next week.
-Give parts to our session musicians so they can learn the songs before rehearsing and recording.
-Run through the songs with Lucy with complete lyrics.
