Showcase Preparation

Promotion

Similar to the Live Wire concerts earlier in the year, I helped to promote and organise the event as I enjoy doing this. I created the poster for the event which can be seen below and organised the ticket site. Because of this, I was able to send out emails to people that have followed our Eventbrite page or have bought tickets from us in the past. This meant I could send out an email informing people that the event was happening, and then proceed to send out reminder emails to make sure they got tickets. This proved to be a success; 40% of receivers opened the emails I sent to them, and 10.7% proceeded to click on the ticket link. As I have got a new laptop and now don’t have photoshop, I used Photopea.com and canva.com to create the poster and printed them out in college. I put roughly 30 posters around the college building and this helped promotion hugely. I also had the idea of contacting local radio station BCB, and the T&A for extra publicity. I went to the radio station to do an interview with two presenters, which you can listen to here: http://listenagain.canstream.co.uk/bcb/index.php?id=64833 (Timestamp: 47:00). The T&A article can be read here: https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/20136597.check-bradford-college-news/ (we were also in the physical paper)!

As well as this form of promotion, I also made further use of the Live Wire social media Instagram account and gave it a slight rebrand. I posted the poster which was well received and had peers share it on their personal Instagram accounts for further visibility and to reach new audiences. (and messaging other accounts). I regularly broadcasted updates on the account’s story and posted to keep followers engaged. Overall, our reach was 331 accounts from May the 4th to the 18th, 242 being non-followers. Over this time, we gained 7 followers, which doesn’t seem a lot but is expected as a lot of the people wanting to come to the showcase will have followed the account earlier in the year. The Linktree website performed well during the same time range too, gaining 56 views and 27-click throughs to our Eventbrite website. Overall, the ticket page received 514 views, which is huge for a small showcase! We sold 103 tickets and the venue was full for the showcase.

Aside from promotion, we also decided to create a programme for the show. Again, I created the design, using a similar branding and the same colour scheme as the poster above. The setlist tended to change a lot as acts switched songs or dropped out, but in the end, we had a professional-looking and informative programme. You can see both the outside and inside of the programme below.
