Aims and Objectives

Overall Aim

Record, produce and release an EP with Lucy to create an audience. Perform this alongside covers at Deershed festival and the end of year showcase.

Objectives
  1. Context and research:
    • Explore and analyse musical inspirations and genres (history of grunge etc)
    • How to use recording studios and techniques to achieve our specific sound
    • Promotion/release/marketing techniques
    • Artwork/brand/image inspiration
  2. Work on originals
    • Gather ideas up and sift through them to find our favourites
    • Begin working off these ideas, creating structures, melodies, harmonies, dynamics, instrumentation and more to create three complete songs
    • Finish instrumental parts of the songs, and make lyrics for all songs
  3. Apply for Deershed festival 2022
    1. Look at Deershed’s artist liaison and apply through this
    2. Communicate with Deershed regarding both their and our questions
  4. Start promoting/create content and artwork
    1. Decide on branding eg fonts, colours, style that suits both us and our target audience (found from marketing research)
    2. Create logo, EP artwork, content for social media
    3. Maybe look at working with a marketing student
    4. Create social media pages (probably Instagram and TikTok) and gain some followers by posting videos and photos
    5. Perhaps contact places like BCB, BBC West Yorkshire Introducing, local news (T&A, The Trumpit) other artists and local social media accounts (both musically and non-musically related), Spotify playlists curators etc
  5. Record originals
    1. Decide whether we want session musicians and record live or just track the different instruments separately
    2. Tape recorder?
    3. Set up recording studio and record originals
    4. Mix and master songs ready for release
  6. Release singles and evaluate final product
    1. Set up account on Distrokid
    2. Organise a release on Distrokid
    3. Promote the release on social media
    4. Analyse the final product and reception after the release
  7. Perform at Deershed Festival
    1. Travel to Deershed prepared with a good amount of songs
    2. Prepare for our set and help college set up the tent
    3. Perform our set including original songs successfully with an audience
