Context – Excellent
I believe I have achieved an excellent grade on context as I have researched many subjects that are relevant to the music industry such as; Sample Libraries, the importance of music in video games and have also researched works of professional composers within the industry. I have done this in great detail and with relevance to the music industry, therefore I believe my contextual work is worthy of a distinction grade.
Research – Excellent
I believe my research throughout this project has been excellent as I have used a wide range of formats such as; videos, music, Ebooks, websites and PDF documents. Every page on research has also been strongly relevant and helpful to my practical work and context during this project, therefore I believe the work I have put into my research has achieved a distinction grade.
Problem Solving – Excellent
I also believe my problem solving has achieved a distinction, I have not encountered any major issues in my project. However each issue I have encountered I have solved independently, this has been documented on my problem solving page. Many of the problems I had within the music such as the timpani rhythms not working have also been solved independently, therefore I believe from using my own initiative I have earned a distinction grade.
Planning and Production – Excellent
My planning and production throughout this project has been very effective due to the detailed production plan I have been using throughout this project, which has also been documented on my digital space. Another way my planning and production has been excellent is because I have summarised my plans for the future weeks in my project and clarified my targets for the future weeks. I also talked about in detail how effective my plan was and what did not go according to plan. However to improve my planning and production I would have also talked about in more detail wether or not I achieved my targets for the previous week.
Practical Work – Excellent
Throughout this project I have shown great dedication into my practical work and composed an orchestral piece of music for a video game. I have achieved my main target of this project which was to compose music for a video game to a high standard, however I initially intended for this to be programmed into the game. However syncing the music to gameplay footage was very successful and blended very well with the gameplay. Furthermore I am very happy with the quality and the arrangement of my music, with very minor changed I would wish to make such as adding reverb. In summary I believe I have earned a distinction for my practical work as I have achieved my project aims for my proposal at the start of the project.
Evaluation and reflection – – Excellent
I believe my evaluation and reflection has been very successful as I have talked about in detail how I spent my time composing music each week and also why I made each creative distinction in my music. Therefore making my evaluation process excellent. I also believe my reflection throughout this project has been excellent as I have talked about what has gone well in my project, what went wrong and how I can improve. I have not only done this on my practical work, but my promotion and presentation skills throughout the project. Therefore I believe in summary I have achieved a distinction in evaluation and reflection for this project.
Presentation – Excellent
I believe my presentation for this project has been very successful as I have showcased my work in three ways which are; on YouTube, Instagram Reels and in the Bradford College Showcase. The quality of the video and music during these showcases are also very high, making my project appear very professional to viewers. In conclusion I believe I have achieved a distinction for my presentation as I have released my project in three different formats for public viewing to a high standard.
