Final performance evaluation

INDIVUAL STRENGHTS / WEAKNESSES

From my memory of the performance I can remember that I attempted to add some stage communication, but I was really nervous because of the camera in my face. This must be visually clear on the camera that I was a bit confused on what to do to communicate, as a consequence of this I felt really awkward. I did a good job in attempting to communicate but unfortunately I just wasn’t comfortable with it. I wasn’t physically feeling the music in terms of expressions and movement, which might look very awkward on camera. I feel like I played my instrument well, however I did miss a few notes in kids when I was playing the semi-quavers in the chorus. This is because they are played in such rapid succession its very easy to slip up and miss them, fortunately I was comfortable enough with this song to stay in time, which made it not noticeable. I think I learned my role in the songs to a very good standard because I knew the; Structure, my queues, time and rhythm and I was very comfortable on when I was change the note lengths on both songs. My biggest strength ended up being the ability to almost instantly move on from making my mistakes, this makes it very hard for a audience to hear what I did wrong.

GROUP STRENGHTS/WEAKNESSES

Our group has majorly improved in the way we played from the start in our knowledge of the songs which includes; the rhythm, the tempo, the beat, the structure and the melody. Our knowledge of this song made us make less mistakes as a band, and when we did we could easy correct our selves. Our biggest weakness as a band was our lack of interaction with each other, me and the guitarist were the main culprits when it came to this. As we both occasionally looked up from our instruments to look around, but more often we were starring at our instruments

HOW WILL YOU DO BETTER NEXT PROJECT

Next performance I will be using my main instrument which is the piano, this means I will be able to practice at home. This means me and my band will have the opportunity to progress faster in learning our songs. I have learnt from this performance that stage communication and presence is just as important as playing your instrument, so next time I will perform as I would in front of an audience during band practice.

OVERALL SUMMARY OF THE PERFORMANCE

There was room for improvement but I believe this performance was the best we performed it, which is a good sign as it is our final performance for the project. We had great understandings of the inns and outs of each song from listening to the record often, this gave us a clear understanding of all aspects of the song including the instrumentals. To improve our songs we could have used more advanced things such as dynamics. But we performed the song really well and the thing we could improve upon the most would be physical stage performace
