Project Evaluation

This project has been difficult for all of us because of the lockdown, which has limited us to only our homes and cut down a lot of us on resources we could have used at college. For this project we were assigned with researching song forms and the history of song to get better context on the topic. I feel like I am lacking a lot of contextual research on this project as there is only one or two slides on music context. We then had to study some songs from artists such as Billie Ellish and Leonard Cohen. This was again successful in my depictions and descriptions, however I was again lacking in quantity of material. The main challenge of this project however was making a song online. We had to compose our own songs online, this means it was all revolved around file sharing and online calls. Unfortunately not everyone in my group was able to attend lesson all the time making this very challenging and slowing us down a bit.

I would say this project has been unsuccessful because of the lack of context, research. The practical side of the project was not bad, but it definitely could have more work done. In this song I came up with some of the chord progression and one verse of the lyrics, I also began working on arpeggios but ran out of time to input them into the song. My prediction for this project is a satisfactory in research and context and maybe a good in my practical skills. If I were to do this project again I would organise my self in my practical skills, by keeping notes on my ideas and discussing more with others. I would also make a note on all possibilities on what other topics I can research. To improve this project I could of used more sources for research through the internet, I was going to use Harvard referencing but have ran out of time which is not good as this shows my time management during this project has been very poor.
