I have reviewed by feedback from project one and thought about how I could improve my work on this second project of the year. In my evaluation and reflection I could use a reflection cycle to give my written work a better and more consistent written structure. Using a reflection cycle would also make my written work have a more flow better and be easier to read for the examiner and myself. Another element of my work I could improve could be my research as I did not use Harvard referencing as consistently as I should have through my written work, to improve this in project 2 I will make sure to reference every source at the bottom of the page. I could also improve my research by using a wider range of research materials such as; books, newspapers and other forms of media. I must also implement my research into my practical work to show that it is useful to me, as sometimes I did not show that I tried to implement my research into my practical skills.
Another aspect of project one I could have improved is planning and production, I did have a planning page for this project however it was vague in minimal detail. To improve this page I will write in greater detail to give the examiner an insight into my targets throughout in the time span of the project and also to give myself a better vision into what I need to do in the future of the project. This would also help me manage my time better which was an area I needed to improve on since the last project, this is because I needed a deadline extension to finish my work. Working on deadline extensions causes stress and rushed work, which leads to an overall worse grade and bad mental health. The planning page on my website should also include links to potential useful sources such as; sheet music, videos and websites. This will save me time looking through the internet for sources, which will help me save time for the future of the project.
The final most important area to improve on since my last project was my Practical skills, to improve my practical skills I could perform piano while accompanying as singer. This is because playing the piano with a singer allows more instrumental flexibility as you can play in al octaves in the piano, because when playing in band you must be aware to not interfere with the low register of the bass. Therefore playing with only a singer will allow me to show off my piano skills more and play in all frequency ranges of the piano. To organise a performance with a singer I must ask them if they would like to accompany me in a song, we could document our performance via video recording and perform in the cafeteria for our gigs.
Project 2, What is it?
Project 2 is the next college module we are doing for this next couple of months, this topic focuses on preparing for our next step in the music industry wether that be full time employment or higher education. In project 2 we will be working on branding ourselves as musicians via websites, social media and logos to help us market ourselves within the music industry and prepare us for employment. For people that want to move onto higher education we are all going to look at UCAS, building a personal statement and what universities we want to attend. For all student we are also focusing on building a CV to attract future employers and prove to universities that all of us are fit to continue studying music. In this project we will also be hosting a music workshop to give us all an insight into music therapy and helping people through music, as this is a huge area of the music industry that many people make a career off of. Therefore this helps introduce us to employment opportunities in the music industry. The final part of this project we are working on is small group ensembles where we will perform in front of a live audience, this part of the project will help us all get more confident when working in smaller groups and adapting the music to a smaller arrangement. It also will make us more confident performers, which is very important if you want to work in the music industry.
