Promotion

Now that the initial planning was out of the way, we had four weeks until the event date, it was time to start promoting the event. To promote our event, we used multiple differant methods;

Social Media:

We created pages for the gig on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to advertise the gig during the weeks building up to it. We posted on each page regularly with images and important information of our progress to ensure that we would reach out to as many people as possible and keep people updated. In addition to this we also got as many people as possible to share our event online to reach even more people.

Mailing list:

A few weeks prior to our gig, we held the small classical piano concert that was mentioned earlier to get a feel for running a live music event. During this event we took contact information from everyone who came to it so that we can contact them with information on future gigs. This meant that we could rapidly get word out to a lot of people who were already interested in live muscic of our next gig.

In addition to this, we sent emails to every staff member and student at Bradford College informing them of the gig as well to ensure a good turnout on the night.

Radio Broadcast:

We also sent an email to BCB radio in Bradford asking them if they would be happy to advertise our charity event, so they asked us to come on for a small interview about the details of it, and to actually perform one of our songs for the gig. (The Chain by Fleetwood Mac)

Posters:

Posters for the event were created and put up all around the three college buildings, down in centenary square, and in a few shop windows around Bradford to reach out to people in our local community.

Word of Mouth:

Finally, we just simply told friends and familly of the event so that they could tell anyone else about it and get them to come along.
