Event Summary

Now that verything has been covered, all that was left to do was to put on a good show. We had a dress rehearsal of the event one week prior to it, and a run through during the morning before the event. Everything went as planned during these rehearsals, the sound quallity was great, we had background music set up, lighting was set up, we were all now accustomed to using the mixing desk to balance out the sound, and now we just had to do it for real.

We set up the seating arrangement, and put up posters guiding people to the event just after the last rehearsal, and we were all finally ready to go.

The Performance:

In my opinion, the event went down really really well. Each band was very well rehearsed and the transitions between each act was swift and professionally done. The venue was near enough full of people so the turnout was great, everything went to plan. The only thing that was left out was the spokesperson from the charity who never came to the event. While this error wasn’t realy anyone’s fault, it was a pain as they would have had much more depth on what their charity does. We managed to improvise though, and give information about the charity during out set.

This event was a success in my eyes. We all performed very well, had a great turnout of people, and managed to raise around £300.00 for The Lost Chord wich I think was a really good achievement.

I think the main thing to improve on is making sure that we have a plan for every possible setback, such as people cancelling last minute; If we had know more about the charity we could have gone into much further detail about it and maybe given the audience a better insight as to what they do. There are other small things to work on with hosting an event, such as introducing everyone who is performing beforehand, having better control over using the monitors on stage, and pre-preparing the gear for each band as they transition between each other.

Overall did fantastically well and the work we put in had definatly paid off in the end. The atmosphere was great, everyone had a good time from what I heard, and every band sounded professional and well rehearsed. Everyone should definatley feel proud of themselves.
