Recently in the world there has been an outbreak of a virus called Covid-19 or ‘Coronavirus,’ and this outbreak has now officially become a global pandemic with most countries going into a lock-down, including the UK.
Due to the nature of this situation, almost all public places have been shut down temporarily, this includes schools, colleges and universities. This then will ultimately have a great affect on our project plans and become a large setback that we will have to work around and overcome.
To quickly summarise our planned project that I have already detailed in my project proposal; We had planned to record an E.P consisting of three original compositions, followed up by a performance to launch the E.P alongside several other acts in a charity event hosted by us. Luckily for us, we had already got the three original songs recorded before the country entered a lock-down, therefore the E.P’s release can still go ahead. The performance however has had to be cancelled as the virus situation escalated.
As a group we had an online meeting to discuss the future of the project and out own role’s in it. While my role as a musical director still applies, the songwriting, arranging, and recording has already been completed now. Therefore while my role is still relevant to the project, I’ll be in contact with Abbey, one of the media students to help organise some of the promotional material with the rest of the group as this is now one of the most important aspects of the E.P launch seen as we can’t put on a physical show anymore.
