Health & Safety

As we were running this event, we had to think about heath and safety issues, and perform a risk assessment of the gig. these are the things we had to think about and how to reduce these risks:

  • Tripping – Tripping over wires and cables – we can reduce the risk of this by taping down any cables alon the edge of the stage so that you dont have to walk near them.
  • Repetitive Strain Injury – hurting yourself by playing too hard – Reduce the risk of this by not overdoing it in the rehearsals, and not practicing for too long at a time.
  • Crushing – large items or a full room – reduce this risk by managing big items with caution, and by not overfilling the venue
  • Lifting injuries – Heavy equipment – reduce this risk by lifting items properly with your legs, and if an item is too heavy for you, stop and get so help from another person.
  • hearing damage – loud music – reduce this by using ear plugs during the concert and rehearsals, and hand them out to the audiance.
  • Epilepsy – flashing lights – Give a warning at the start if the show, and to everyone who enters that there will be flashing lights that could cause an epileptic fit.
  • Falling objects – heavy equipment – Make sure that evey piece of equipment is secure and cannot move on its own.
