Producer overviews

What producer have i chosen and why

the producer that i have picked is rick ruban I have chosen this produce because his work spans over a multitude of genre’s of music and artist of various sizes like system of a down korn slipknot AC/DC Eminem Jonny cash and many more with in some cases he has made helped catpult these bands to new heights or help an artist create lyrics

What albums did he make

toxicity and system of a down (self titled) system of a down

follow the leader korn

Vol.3 the subliminal verses slipknot

13 black sabbath

one of the producers on the marshal Mathers LP2 Eminem

reign blood seasons of the abys and south of heaven slayer

What techniques where used on this albums

thee technique is a almost lack of production in some cases that enhances the overall raw elements of some of these albums like the system of a down self titled this works realy well becuse the albums need the grit to drive foward the point of raw strong gritty sound

What production techniques does rick rubin use

Rick Rubin uses a stripped down sound to let the instruments shine through and allow the lyrics to stand on there own to give a more raw sound I will use this to give the tracks a more raw and heavier sound for my recording project this can be done by eliminating things like reverbe and echo to make the sound more raw

Will I use this for my project

i will use elements of this to achieve a similar sound to the original. As the original is quite damp with a verry reverb focused vocal live. I think that this technique could work well for drums becuse it could give a distant sound, I think this approach wouldn’t work well for the bass. As it will be to dominant in the mix and will take away from the other istrments and the vocal line. I also think this approach could reduce the dimensionality of the the track. This may make the track sound flat.

Another producter producer i have reserched is.

another producer that i have followed is mutlang. He has produced for bands like AC/DC, Def leopard, The cars, and Billie Ocean. He has produced many genras with his work in hard rock being highly memrble. With clasics like highway to hell, back in black. and For those about rock (we solute you). He also had a multitude of techneques that he spesificly used like layering a large number of vocals and useing spesific gear like the Dolby A for acustic gutars. Another one of his techeques that can be heared is how he recorded evry string on gutar on its own on the track histerya for def leopards first album.. this approach of recoding string by string allows for a more procise recording sound to give the producer full harmonic controle.

what techneques can i apply to my own music production and recording.

i can apply the idea of adding many overdubs of vocals to give a larger feel. This is usefull for adding may layers and giveing giveing the song a higher areverb sound. some of his thechneques will not apply to me as he started with a lot of analouge recoding techenques as for my project im useing digital recording for my project.

reforance list.
