The riffs
why I think these riffs work
I think that these two riffs are verry different and allow me to make a clear transition between tempos and will generally allow me to have both the fast pace elements whilst also allowing e to have a groove metal like section in this composition to show a clear shift in the track.
The music theory/chords involved
These two riffs both only contain power chords to have that classic heavy metal sound/hard rock sound. These types of chords are regularly used by bands like AC/DC, Led explain and deep purple. The reason that his is so common is because of the missing third giving a more gritty heavy sound I also think that power chords work better with the higher levels of distortion due to there being only usually two notes present within these chords. The time signature is the standard signituer of 4/4 I used this signature because this is the signature that I am the moast confident playing and composing to for my backing beat I used a combination of double bass techniques to give a strong backbeat that allows me to keep the pace of the track fast pace and havy for a more action focused sound.
The inspration for these riffs
My inspiration for the fist riff mainly was from bands like judas priest iron maiden and slayer. The riff also had elements for the mob rules from the DIO era of black sabbath with tat really strong introduction riff that sets up the rest of the song compered to the second riff that was inspired by more of the the groove and doom aspects of metal with bands like type o negative Pantera and overkill for a slightly slower sound that I think gives a good turning pint in the track.
