the set up I used
For the project I used a dual monitor system for this session this allowed me to have the video playing on one side with the D.A.W mixer and on the main screen. I have the piano roll set up with the midi keyboard to either play or write in the music. This set up takes inspiration from movie producers as this set up is common in the movie music production sphere. The parts I like about this set up is, that there is less inputs on one screen making the process less overwhelming to look at also this setup allows me to use devices like headphone splitters and audio interfaces. This can help me both get good feedback in real time whilst having the interfaces provide a sort of pre-amp to the set up for a more professional sound. I also like the versatility with parts of the MIDI device like the vibrato/pitch sifter switch I think the potential drawbacks of this set up are the space requirements are larger than the usual set up in the college rooms another downside of this set up is not using a apple native keyboard. This keyboard makes shortcuts more confusing and some of the keys are different than displayed like the @ key. Also I think that I could have potentially used a personal pair of headphones as it makes the creation process easier as they would be more familiar for me.
Instrument effects
I used a electric piano with chorus distortion and reverb to give it a dark and heavy sound with Doom and Sludge elements. This gives the keyboard a Black Sabbath like sound. The keyboards are made to recreate a distorted guitar tone. I think this will work well in this project to create intensity to do this I will use powerchords.
Drum kit
For the drums I used a drum kit designer in logic. I chose the heavy kit I mixed all of this with a large bass weighting for a heavy drum sound. This kit also has effects like reverb to make the kit sound larger, and to give the kit more overall presence I will use both single and double bass techniques to allow me to have quick tempo changes.
