What are the main types of recording techniques
analogue digital and tape recording
Analogue recording

The benefits of analogue recording
This form of recording is the most natrul giving a more human sound to the song
Analogue is more intuitive for new users
Allows for a easier to acheive a professional sound quality
The drawbacks of analogue recording
It requires more technology like intrment mics pre amps and mixers this can be expencive potentially detouring smaller artists
The set up time is much longer than digital recording each part of a anloug recording session has to be set up so the drums have to be miced the amps have to be miced and iverthing needs to be plugged in to acheive a profeshnal sound
takes cannot be edited after the initial recording resulting in more takes being needed this can be potentialy difficult or strenuious for band menbers and if this is recorded in a studio the tame taken will be longer becuse of this it can be expencive for artists recording in a studio
My project appllications of analogue recording
for this project i will not use analouge recoding becuse of the timeframe of the the project and the lack of production that can be done after the recoding sesions i also think that this techneque
Digital recording

Benefits of digital recording
Storage of digital recordings is safer and takes less space than analouge with only a money card needed to store upwards of an album of songs
Editing is much simpler as any part of the track can be enhanced with a production software like logic or abletion as the indivdual sections of the track can be edited for a greater effect things like vocal intensity pich and levels can be edited and also if the track needs external soundeffects to biuld a atmophere they can be easly added to the overall track
Greater capture profusion allowing for greater musical dynamics this can be usefull for wrighting softer bridges adding more intensity to sections of songs
The drawbacks of digital recording
There is a much steeper learning curve with digital recording as tape uses one meshein to record the traack
High initial costs (software costs) D.A.W softweres can be expancive there fore this could deture producers and smaller artists
Overuse of technology lowering the human elements of the recording this can make the music playing seem more robotic makeing the track loose some of its organic essence
my project applications of digital recoding
i will use digital recoding for this project beucse of it ease and versitlty in the recoding side of music i can program this in to a D.A.W to achive the sound i am looking for and this will allow me to take the skills from project 2 that i have learned and apply them to this project in the form of D.A.W skills (logic x pro) i think this will also make the process of recording simpler as when the takes are done all that is needed is to chose the takes that where the best and make a track from them
Tape recording

The benefits of tape recording
Long recording sessions can be easier due to the recorder only needing tape to record parts
Tape can be edited this can help add parts to the songs and can allow for multiple takes
They are easily affordable for fans and artists as the tape is easy to prduce and get youre and manifacture
The drawbacks of tape recording
Signal storage of tape can be problematic this can result in the recording oseing some elements or potentaly the intere recording culld be lost
There are vast amount of limitations with tape recording like lack of online files to make conversions to keep the track safe
Tapes have a magnetic property because of there is often a hiss in the background of the audio
My project applications of tape recording.
I will not use tape recording for my project because of its heavy drawbacks and equipment expenses as in would need a tape recorder would prevent me from using the gear in the studio and could provide difficulty transferring this recording to a digital format (WAV or D.A.W middi files) this would also make the project harder to present in a digital format for the project
