song writing

this is the song writing project for the second project of the course on level 3. this is the work I have so for for my project which I started last week due to being ill the first week we started the project.

In this video above I was developing ideas on the guitar for the verses of my song which I’m going for the style of midwest emo because I think it sound quite nice on the guitar with the pattern I played.

This video above is on developing ideas for the chorus of my song because I don’t just want to use the same pattern through the entire song due to it being repetitive and eventually annoying.

The video above shows the song in near completion with it just needing a melody to get played over top of everything else thats going on which Nic played in a separate video for me so I could learn it. I think that its starting to sound like how I imagined it would when I was at home noodling on my guitar just need to get a demo of the song and upload it.

In the video above I got Nic to take of him playing the melody line so I could learn it and record it next project to complete my song with Cameron. The melody fits the song and gives it extra texture that it was missing when we first played it in the live room with the high notes hitting the right spot with the lower tones of the other guitar. I also think it sounds nice because both the guitars are tuned differently from one another with the one I’m playing being in open D and the one Nics playing being in E standard. this makes both guitars complement each other.

All I need now is to record a demo of the song and upload it onto my digital space.

This is the demo of our song called footsteps which Cameron named when we took photos for our cover sleeve that Paul helped us create. Kai learned the melody track that I got Nic to record so we could put it all together for our demo.

What I think went well about this project is that it has nice dynamic changes throughout the song to give it nice spacing for other parts to come in and out like the drums and the melody line. I also think that it went well due to us all knowing our parts for the recording due to us practicing a little bit before hand.

what we need to improve is playing in time with one another because now and again one of us would fall out of tempo. We also need to work on the sound levels with the guitars because within parts of the song you can only hear one of the guitars. This can be fixed when we record the song properly into logic for our project 3 with the use of a metronome.
