hey I’m Cody from the level 3 extended music course at Bradford college, I’m the drummer for the band (band of 4) which is part of the project 1 unit of the course. I mostly focus my drumming round genres such as grunge rock, metal core, alternative rock, deathcore, and thrash metal this is because these are the genres I listen to the most out of all the music I listen to. I listen to bands such as lost souls that are a newer metal core band that are making waves In the music scene at the moment, I also listen to I prevail, slipknot, suicide silence, gojira, linking park, skindred and many more. I’ve been playing drums since I started secondary school 8 years ago but at the moment I do’t feel like I’m making any musical progression which is something I’m trying to work through so I can get to a high enough level to apply to go to uni which hopefully I’ll start net year.
some of my favourite drummers consist of the late Joey Jordison from slipknot, Dave Grohl from nirvana, the late Taylor Hawkins and his son Shane Hawkins from foo fighters and Eloy Casagrande also from slipknot. I’ve also been learning how to play guitar over the past year which started because I decided I wanted to write my own music as a solo artist but would struggle if I didn’t learn other instruments. I own a 2004 squire show master in sparkle black that my girlfriend bought me as a Christmas present last year and an Ibanez Q series I bought myself because I thought it looked cool (hurt my bank account though). I used to play on a pearl export kit that was a lovely cherry red colour but unfortunately it got stolen whilst transporting it to my new house so I’ve downgraded to a gearsformusic kit till I can acquire the funds to replace my old kit.
