within project 3 I feel like I did good with recording and mixing and mastering, this is because lewis taught is how to mix throughout his lessons giving us tips and pointers as we went along. this helped with mixing because it meant I understood how things worked like EQ and compressors.
I do think I need work though due to me mixing it with compressors and forgetting to turn the auto gain off so it made the guitars sound raspy within the mix which we fixed before I got my final bounce of the track for my portfolio.
I have huge areas I need to Improve on such as my timing whilst recording to make sure I’m in time with the metronome for recording.
I also need to work on my mixing skills and understanding of logic more so I can mix and master tracks more fluently instead of asking for help every 5 minutes because I don’t understand on how to do stuff.
I also need to work on my time management within projects so I can get work done and have enough time to complete my write up.

recording equipment and why we used it:
we used an SM57 to record the guitar due to it being a really good mic for medium to high frequencies which is what the guitar produces which made it easier for use to find those frequencies whilst mixing the track. we also used a groove tube microphone because its a condenser microphone which is better in a recording space because it picks up cleaner frequencies than the SM57 which is a dynamic mic mostly used for live performances .we also miked up the drum kit with the Audix mic kit for the toms and the kick we also used the Audio Technica AT4041 as the over heads and the SM57 for the snare drum
in the future I would make sure to record a backing a backing track to make sure that everyone stays in time whilst recording so we don’t have to get multiple takes so we have more time to mix and master our track to keep on time
