Problem Solving

Care Home-

when setting up for this gig, i dropped my guitar and it cracked. This happened due to me not making sure that the strap was propperly attached witch it then slipped and fell to the floor. This was very inconvinient expessually because it was a new guitar. However, its important that i learn from what happened. In the future i could prevent things like this from happenening and delaying the performance by taking time to analylise any errors witch could take place and how to minnimise the risks beforehand. At the time i inspected dammage and concluded that i was ok to continue the performance witch is the best outcome i could of hoped for. Since this has happened i have orderd some strap locks to secure the guitar to the straps and i will also take better care in double checking this.

Another issue witch we gave thourght to before the performance was the age related missmatch between our reputoir and the audiance. If our song choises our not allined with the risidents taste then its peoven that engagement drops sharpley. Even though its impossable to cater to everyones taste we curated our setlist around a more mature taste. On top of this, some studies show that playing music from outside the residents formative years can increase confussion, which will increase withdrawel witch is the opposite of our intentions.

On arival we faced an unexpected issue, with the performance space being outdoors. This led us to check the weather and consider what actions to take in the scenario of unforcasted rain, this possibility only increased with the gig being in novemeber. The first thing we considerd was our immediate responce for eletrical safetey, we covered all power exenders with plasics bags as a precortinary messure and ensured everything could be unplugged and relocated immediatley just incase. We where also on stone flooring witch is prone to beings slippery when wet so we all came in aproprite foot whear to keep us grounded. Luckily weather was on our side and it did not rain, but if it did our final messure would be to see if we could get approved finish indoors. This depens on multiple scenarios though, such as, if the space is autharised, residents and workers are happy for us to do so, how deep into the setlist we where, exepment was dry and safe. There is the risk of rushed relocation causing new hazads.

Christmas gig-

This gig luckily want very well but we still planned for the worst.

A possible scenario was the crowd misbehaving. This involves, drug/ alcahol use, bullying, heckling and violence. Due to being a college gig we luckaly had on site security that worked the aria to act as a deturent and stop any issues quickly. These types of behaviour could effect the performers and increase nerves so luckaly nothing of the sort happened.

Another thing that could have went wrong is equipment acting up. To make sure we where ready for these problemes the technisian, Evan, did checks of all wires and equimpent before hand, he also kept spares of the things most likley to fail to hand. This is a very important part of the setup so if anything does go wrong it can be fixed with haste and have minnimal effect on the planned timeslots.
