In conclusion, during this project i enjoyed learning about more specific production techniques used in the field, i was interested in creative ways to expand the repertoire of sounds i am able to replicate. More importantly ive learnt to hone more basic tracks through the use of eq and different effects and balance dynamics. This is important to me as i would like to go down the film music/ foley route. However, there are still arias where i would like to research in more depth such as how to use and manipulate effects to create a more experimental effect. I will do this through mixing more of my own songs and covers and watching more producers on youtube such as Jacob Bugden because he has an incredible sound.
On the final mix there are certain instruments witch i would like to sound less muddy and i would have liked the vocals to have more power. I messed around with noise gates witch i kept on the bottom of the snare t0 help with the phase but i struggled adding in on the guitar and the outer kick mic due to the large amounts of bleed, i improved this through eq but its still far from perfect. In retrospect i could have compressed them but i am still improving in this aria so i think it would make it sound hollow and weak.
During the planning and learning phase i regret not documenting the practice sessions more thoroughly witch is an aria that i have shown weakness on in my previous projects as well so i will try to improve this for next time. I think this is partially down to how i already new the song fairly well before finding out what it is and so did other members of the group so we didn’t practice much (if at all) together before recording.
An aria i believe i did well on was learning and understanding about different mics and what they do best as well as researching and analysing successful ghost writers and producers songs witch helped me with brain stew and will continue to help me with any production and writing down the line.
