New Song Ideas

Song 1

(1st song)

Brad, Ben, Lewis and Jacob

  • Emaj7, Dmaj7, F#7 intro, verse, outro
  • Bminor, Emajor, Dmaj7 bridge/pre-chorus section
  • E, C#minor, A, B x4, chorus
  • E, C#minor, A Dmajor7 (break) D#major7, E#major7, merge back to verse

Gradual change, positive vibrant start for first verse and chorus, as song progresses the mood comes down slowly changing into a more negative accepting feeling. Jackson 5 melodic rhythm = when I had u to my self. It would be good to add nice high note embellishments whilst playing the chords on the higher strings.

I want to be able to show that the verse shows subtle worry but confidence in each other and as it progresses to the end of the verse and pre-chorus the lyrics are more worry filled. When we get to the chorus I want the lyrics to be about the solution to the worry and problems, a safe place like a mental haven of sorts.

This is me jotting down an idea for the 2nd verse. I try to add more lyrics and make a possible start to a similar harmony to the first with just a little difference to separate them both.

After taking some advice from Lewis I tried harder to focus on the rhythm of the melody more as I didn’t consider that before and after trying scatting to get a feel of the rhythm I am now steps closer to finishing this song.

Meaning

For me I think this song is about a young couple going through normal every day problems like not knowing if your putting your money into the right things or spending your time in what feels like the only way you can (work)and it still feel like your doing something wrong. Being very busy with work and contributing to the house needs and seeing that the only time you get to spend with each other is the night but thats taken by sleep so you can work in the morning.

Same Song Different Lyrics and Melody

 I think we

should spend a little less time

Trying to find

The lost pieces of our minds

What people want us to see

What people want us to be

Its different from what we need

Responsibility

Pages of This Song (2nd Song)

Brad, Ben, Lewis and Jacob

In this video we are figuring out a new melody for the verse as we all agreed the previous verse me and Jacob wrote really dragged the quality of the song down so here Ben is showing us a new melody and structure to the lyrics already made that better the quality instead of worsen it.

Amaj7, Emaj7 + embellishments, quiet rise intro

Amaj7, Emaj7 + embellishments, chorus

Amaj, Emaj7 x2, verse

Amaj7, E, build up, pre-chorus

Amaj, Emaj7, Bmaj x8, bridge

After finishing recording the instruments to the pages song we wanted to practice recording our vocals as we plan to record the vocals in college as they have better gear than us for singing. We just wanted to make sure we had an idea pf what we were doing so it does not take loads of time when recording in college.

Meanings

To me its just the basic idea of things are not as good as they once was, memories of summer and fun outings when we all had thhat young innocence and wanted to get back and re live it. Like the story of everybody’s life.

Lyrics

1st verse

Some one call the doctor

I need help immediately

Ive been laying here wasting on the floor

Out cold since 3.00

I must of tripped and fallen or something

man im not sure

the only thing I remember is that you were a bore

Pre-Chorus

(spoken)

Ha must be her, im not boring

her problem not mine

Chorus

Im sorry I thought being cocky’d make you like me

2nd verse

Some one call the doctor

The conversation is reliant on me

ive been at the bar really trying for her but it looks its not meant to be

she seems she’s not on this planet

or maybe she’s not into me

(spoken)

Its mad that I never consider

thats a possibility

2nd Pre-Chorus

Its as easy as that

Chorus

Im sorry I though being cocky’d make you like me

Bridge

Meaning

I would say the meaning of this song is about cocky arrogant guys who think they are walking legends who never understand that what they do and how they try attract people by acting like they don’t care is mostly disrespectful, it looks stupid, its cringey and most of all it almost never works. I guess its about them protecting there ego’s or cred when they get rejected for acting like a melt.

Bunk Brothers (4th song)

Brad, Ben, Lewis, Jacob

This just shows lewis practicing the chugging beat for the bluesy brother song as we wanted to do something different with the drums instead of just having some boring drums over it so we are trying out things he has not played before. To help him we recommended him learning a couple of old songs that use a similar technique on blues songs way back when like Johnny Cash.

Chords

E maj, A maj, D maj for the verse

E maj, A maj, D maj and B7 for the chorus

1st verse

Remember when we used to always fight

back when it mattered who was right

remember how we used to play

and the kind of things that we would say

we did it our way

Remember when we used to sometimes share

and we would go to woods to look for bears

See it never mattered the time of day

or whats was inside on our plate

we did it any way

Chorus

So why is it now that you test me

after all these years this is beneath me (and you)

why are we still talking all this junk

do I have to remind you

We came from the same bunk

2nd verse
