In Unit 1, I explored creating a business revolving around my love of art and drawing. The business named Plein Sight invited people to partake in community drawing sessions of their environment, drawing both urban and natural landscapes. The main aim is to create opportunities for emerging artists to support their career through networking and support from other like-minded artists. (Click image to view project)

Unit 2 investigated further the impacts of community engaged practices, looking at 2 case studies: South Square Centre, and they’re work to bring art to local communities, and HOUSE 2 – Counter City a Swiss project form ALICE (Atelier de la Conception de l’Espace) that aimed to study how social design can positively impact the community. Going into the third phase of the course, Unit 3 should take the sensibilities and structure of Unit 1’s business and incorporate the research and findings of unit 2 to develop a business plan that closer aligns with my future career aspirations.
Specifically, focusing on Unit 2’s findings, my career as a designer could build off incorporating community aspects that positively shapes society and design industries.
