project 1 hallmark cards

hello my name is Ashley Dunne i have been doing performing arts since year 7 in high school i like doing drama because i find it funny sometimes and i like listening to music any type i go to scouts i have just moved on to explorers and i am taking performing arts level 2.we were asked by hallmark cards to do a project to do with humor and comedy we came up with some ideas

week 1

when i had my transition day then when i started on the Wednesday we started the project of looking at doing a sketch on humor for hallmark cards when i got down there i started to do research on sitcoms and stereotypes of a sitcom i shared what i found and told all the group a joke and another person told a joke and the tutor that was there that day told another joke we were then split into a group and we had to start to develop a scene with humor i think the first week was terrible because i did not know what we were doing and i felt a little awkward we did some team building activities and getting to know other people.

week 2

when we came in on the Monday after we started to develop different characters for a sitcom then on the Friday then we had the characters in our minds we started a scene with these characters and then we further develop the characters we made up scenes with these characters and we came up with a setting wyps (west Yorkshire police station ) but before all that we looked at physical theatre and how we incorporated into our scenes and how we reacted to a certain stimulus like in a school canteen and the headteacher yelling at us and that is as far as we have gotten and we included sounds into our pieces and the first on we did was like office workers going to work and the song working 9 to 5 playing in the background then we had pretty woman playing while we were in the office then near the end we had the benny hill theme playing in the background the dance sessions started with Michael (i felt like i didn’t want to do it)

week 3 day 1

we started to add a bit of more physical theatre today with our scenes that we started earlier in the term when we started the piece we had a new song playing in the background we had to change a couple a bits in the performance like the boss lady had to go on top of the table and then underneath it and when she is on top she shakes all our hands and wakes someone up

week 3 day 2

on Wednesday with Michael we started to write a script for the piece we were doing on Fridays i created a group chat so we could share ideas and once i did that we came up with the idea of having it set in a detention room and we had the characters all ready from the week before when we had personal traits with our characters we were ready to practice on the Fridays only level 2 are in the Friday mornings when we are by ourselves with no one else

week 3 day 3

today we used the script to have a practice go at the scene with our characters that the premise is simple we are all in detention and the teacher is nowhere to be found and at the end it is reveled to be one of us and then the teacher challenges us to give them a reason then we give the reason “you were late and we were early ” then he lets us go the character that is the teacher is called Mr. Peterson and all the others are kids (i can remember some but not all) so i think we are getting better at the performance and in general we are doing well with our project with the whole comedy projects and the hallmark cards projects we are doing

week 4 day 1

today we have redone our scenes and we were filmed so that Sara could see how we were doing i think we have come on so well since we started the projects at the star of the term we have come on so well since the beginning of the projects we can focus better because we were laughing and giggling now can i look into someone eyes without breaking focus and looking at someone else or something else and now i have better concentration when i do projects so i think these past weeks i have been improving with my skills now i can do a bit of dancing we have been doing a bit of the song called waves this dance is to do with synchronization with some of the dance moves and the music has a bit of a rhythm added to the beat so we don’t step out of the rhyme i think today went well with the pieces and the sounds that we used today with our pieces everybody’s was good but i think that ours could be better what we need is speaking in these performances humor means using physical lagunage or saying funny sentences to make people laugh and there are different types of humor like toilet humor the most common type of humor and then there are the more serious types like dark comedy, religion comedy, gender comedy, there is this one channel i find that is comedyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6D6NJ1yQbg&t=1s

https://www.youtube.com/user/BBCComedyGreats/about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcz0JKjtmvI these links have helped me becoming to understand what humor is one other one i didn’t mention was physical humor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s28hrH70tg all these videos are making me understand humor a bit more and now i can be funny and use physical humor in our piece monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. and on Friday.

week 4 day 2

yesterday we were doing further developing our scenes and then we were doing script work for our scenes on the Friday when level 2 are in on the morning and then we wrapped the day up with some dance work with Michael and i feel that i have become more confident when doing dance on an afternoon we are doing currently doing the song waves with Michael and among the drama scenes i have just recently been asked to clip the music tracks together and i found on Spotify and gave to Michael to clip together and now it has work with our scenes now we have the tracks all spliced together and now we can do it and we can tweak some of the scenes and now we have cues to when we can come in to set the scenes up and take them off and stand in netural

week4 day 3/week 5 day 1

on Friday the detention scene was filmed by Steph and she gave us feedback on how we could improve it and we had to edit the script and we were split in to groups and we each took turns editing the script with Steph seeing and reading it out loud to us and we knew what needed changing some of the lines that needed changing and then once we were done we ran through the performance with the script today we ran through the whole thing even the separate hallmark cards projects and then the level 3 did their sitcom scene and then we did ours in front of the camera and then Steph gave us feed back to further develop the scenes for the performance in a couple weeks Wednesday

here is the script for the detention scene that the level 2 have been working on

week 5 days 2 and 3

the past 2 days the tutors have decided to change the scene at the beginning of the piece from 9 to 5 to 1920 Charleston era music so but the smaller scenes are the same but the only thing that has change is the music still 1920 music and we have been told to exaggerate our movements in these scenes and yesterday we started to add a bit more movement into our pieces in the morning the original pieces and the music we went through with them with Sara and the sitcom scenes we also went through with Sara the detention scene the level 2 sitcom scene and today with Michael when they decided to change the music we had to the 1920 Charleston era music and for our scenes as well but the sit coms scene are the same with the music we have chosen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs35t2xFqdU another brick in the wall by pink Floyd what we had for our scene in the office https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOnUvYPBixc the songs that we all chose as a collective https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5DMkEWvmgRT1wTNYsZ4czg?si=QDoZAMaiScmDBARSdxN-ZA&utm_source=native-share-menu all the songs are on the playlist we created as a collective and I found all the songs on my Spotify app in b41 in the group with the business people there were only 3 people in this morning then it went up to 5 how normal it is went to be and we had to improvise what we did this morning and most of we did this morning was improvised all the things that i have done so far most of it was improvised

week 5 day 4

today we have been going over the sitcom scene we changed the chair layout and added some new stuff to our scene we have been doing it all morning and we had our first audience the year 2 group watched our performance and gave us feedback on how we can improve it and then Michael said the same thing to what he said on Wednesday and then someone else said the same thing that Michael said on Wednesday and we kept doing it until we went home and i felt that it went good today we all said that when we started we were at a 5 or a 6 and then we are now at a 7/8 when it comes to a performance

week 6 (PERFORMANCE WEEK) and (LAST WEEK OF PROJECT)

the week of the performance and the last week of the project that we are doing the tutors have been giving us feedback for the whole project and the feedback has been good and they have been guided us to change some bits like the music and the little sketch scenes i think their feedback has been good and trusting and supportive with only 2 days until the performance i feel like we are nearly there with perfecting out scenes so today we have been tidily our scenes up today so that it is ready for Wednesday all the tutors feedback has helped us develop our scenes into what they are now like the scenes we did on Friday the level 3 year 2 group they gave us feedback on how we do better with our scene and come to today we have had a few practices of the opening scene and the little sketches and i think that we have mastered the opening and the little sketches those have been completed we need to focus on the sitcom scenes https://bradfordcollegeac.sharepoint.com/:v:/r/sites/TEAMUALLevelThreeDiplomainPerformingArts/Shared%20Documents/Rehearsal%20Pictures%20and%20Videos/video-20220930-111943-4974f908.mov?csf=1&web=1&e=DxeHar

the links above is the evidence of what i have done so far in this course the first video we did and the latest video in the group that is in on a Friday morning and today we had our performance and i think that it went pretty well and they were no mistakes in the performance and it went amazing all that hard work finally paid off today so it is the end of the project and i think the first project went well the video is come later this afternoon when i do it

the two files above are the viva questions and the scrapbook on word when the sever was down and the end of the project so the performance we did on Wednesday i think all those weeks we were doing practicing and rehearsing it coming up to the weeks and we have had our ups and downs with the project we have sometimes we haven’t had the full cast we had to improvise some’s of the scenes we were doing and sometimes we change the set to match the way the audience they were watching and we had the group level 3 year 2 gave us feedback on how we could improve it and we took the feedback and improve the detention scene and some of the little sketches feedback came from the tutors on how we come make it more urgent and busy at a train station or working in a office and changing the set to the next set and then to the smaller sitcoms scenes like the teachers’ lounge and the detention room scenes those are things that have stayed the same apart from some minor changes to the way we sat in the chairs and i had an accent when i spoke it sounded like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaU8I4ZIisg
