Task 1:

Research and idea development

Social Media Advertising is a type of digital marketing that utilizes social networks to deliver paid ads to your target audience. It helps companies branch out to the younger generation so they can buy their product if they see interest in the advertisement. Word-out-mouth advertising is the most effective form of advertising. It has the desired qualities of strong credibility, high audience attention levels.

Social Media Marketing is used on various apps like snapchat for example. Snapchat launched in 2011. And as of 2022 Snapchat is still one of the top 15 most-used social platforms. Social media platforms allow users to spend time with more relevant content. Making social ads are more valuable as they are more likely to be seen by the appropriate audience. Social media market research is the practice of gathering historical and real-time data from social media channels to better understand your brand’s target market.

The technique used is Camera Shot Terminology. Long shot (mainly known as ‘wide shot’), this type of filmmaking was a result of filmmakers trying to retain the sense of the viewer watching a play in front of them, as opposed to just a series of pictures. Long shot is often used as an establishing shot, establishing shots may use famous landmarks to indicate the city where the action is taking place or has moved.

TIKTOK

TikTok is a social media platform used to create 30-60 second videos online for friends and the Public to view and share content with other people and apps. The platform mainly uploads content for the younger generation as people of the younger generation use the app. Short videos for teens to enjoy the content as more teens would use an app for 30 second content than other platforms like facebook, they use content like images and videos with long duration up to five minuets. Teens would rather use a platform for content to watch up to 3 videos within a minute instead of half of one in a minute.

TikTok provides you with plenty of options to advertise on the platform. So you can choose what will be most effective in reaching your target audience and getting your message across.

TikTok is a good example for social media advertisement as it is one of the most used social media platform. All ages use this app so therefore TikTok creates advertisements appropriate for the correct audience age. The TikTok ads increase brand exposure.

SNAPCHAT

Snapchat is a platform used for communicating with friends and family via message and live photos and videos. Snapchat is used to create content on your story for

With snapchat ads advertisers can reach global audience. Snapchat usually advertises different companies and platforms that are relevant to the user, mainly game platforms. Snapchat advertisements are usually to promote their products and features in the application like filters for an example. Snap Ads are full-screen vertical video ads that can be up to 10 seconds long. For the Gen Z audience snapchat is one of the best social media networks to engage with them and drive sales. My idea for advertising this product is to take multiple shots of the product in front of a green screen and then to edit a spooky halloween background and mask the green screen footage and the background together using adobe premiere pro. I think this idea is appropriate of the products theme and its also trendy as halloween is approaching.

This is how i started, with a blank screen on adobe premiere pro.

I then edited the background on my mobile phone using an editing programme called “Video Star”.

I then imported this into premiere pro and i also imported the footage of the product in front of a green screen. Using ‘Ultra Key’ i masked the background into the green screen to make it look like it’s floating in the bloody background.

I then decided to change the background as the bloody background fell more into the theme of halloween and even tho the product is for halloween the background didn’t feel appropriate for the product. I made another background on “video star”. I used these overlays for the first clip.

I also used another overlay with the play overlay. I used an overlay of ghosts walking around a dark background.

Then using ultra key again to mask the backgrounds into the videos.

Evaluation

Here is my final production of the social media advertisement.

After i presented the advertisement the class then gave me some feedback on the presentation.

Well done Leon

The feedback that i was given made me feel proud of my work and the time and effort that was given into it. Some of the feedback i got was, “good editing skills” which made me feel proud in my work as an editor. I feel like using my at home edit in with my work really helped highlight the theme of the product. I feel like i could have made the price bigger and more clear.

The project overall i feel the project overall i could have gone into more detail with the research page, i could have used more images and more information about social media and the advertising industry. When shooting the footage i think it would have been better if i used a better camera with a more clear quality and more lighting on the green screen as you can tell that green screen as been used on the ad.

On the idea development i changed the idea about the background. I feel like changing the idea of the background made a big affect on my advertisement. My ideas of the advertisement changed throughout editing. Using my edit from home really helped with the advertisement as it gave me good feedback, i feel like if i didn’t add my edit i wouldn’t really have positive feedback.

From this project I have learnt more skills in production with different techniques with shooting footage and editing the footage. I learnt how to use the basics of adobe premiere pro, I now know how to edit with green screen and to use special effects. I feel like I could have used more special effects whilst editing as it could have added more excitement to the advertisement. I feel like adding my spooky edit in the background of the product helped highlight the product and its halloween theme of it.

I think the strengths of this project are that I have understood the the task, I think the music and the theme has a big impact on the advertisement as it completes and it gave me some positive feedback, it showed excitement in the advertisement.

I think the weaknesses of this project are that Ii only took footage of the product using green screen and I didn’t take shots of the product in a different scenery which have made the advertisement more exciting and interesting. I think another weakness is that I should’ve added more information on the research page as it shows how resourceful I am with my work and it would have given more information about social media and the advertising industry.

If I had the chance to overtake this process again I would improve on my creativity as I didn’t use much creativity or effort in shooting the footage of the product which would show my peers and tutors what level I am at on my creativity with production. I would improve on the pre production as I should have added more detail. Next time I will make sure I put more thought, time and effort into the research page and shooting the footage as it would make the advertisement look more professional and more like an advertisement.
