Project 3 Evaluation

This project started pretty bad instantly with the band not agreeing on what song to do or by changing songs after a day. Other than that we did start learning the songs that were picked and spent most of it on “just a girl”. The original set list after the first week was billie jean and i’m just a girl. Some people in the band hated just a girl and some hated billie jean so it felt like no one ever wanted to practice which we didn’t do much of.

We started being able to play “just a girl” from start to finish with a couple of mistakes each , for me it was timing and some of the fills. I then stayed focusing on fixing them issues so i practiced the fills and playing the song at home.

The next time i came in i was told we’re now doing one direction what makes you beautiful instead of billie jean , so we started learning that song which didn’t take us too long to learn i originally struggled with the timing but found it a lot easier if i kept a quarter note beat on my leg as i play the verse. I think i could’ve improved the dynamics of it too and the fills.

We then got told we’re gonna be playing an acoustic gig at the Darley street market , when the band was discussing it some people didn’t want to do “just a girl” acoustic so we only had one song which was “what makes you beautiful” we then preceded to keep practicing that song.

When there was like 2 or 3 days left someone suggested to do creep by radio head which i agreed to , the problem was in the next few rehearsals no one wanted to start playing the song even though everyone knew there parts just don’t practice together for some reason until pav was in one day and we started practicing it.

On the day of the gig we had a bit of time to practice before hand which we went to do. When we got there loads of other people who sat in there too and my band got distracted and didn’t want to practice in front of them so we only went through the song like 4 times.

The gig wasn’t the best we made some mistakes my timing was off and it lacked a lot of energy it was also the wrong song choice for the event i think. We got kaleb on stage since des wasn’t there which was very last minute but definitely made it sound a bit better.

If i was to redo this project i would have kept whatever songs we had from the first week and just keep practicing them. If we the acoustic gig happened again i would’ve choose songs that fit the event more than what we did. I think the main reasons this project didn’t go to plan was changing songs , mine and others attendance as well as when we’re in some people wouldn’t be practicing which then made others not and so on. I would’ve also practiced the songs more during my free time and target specific parts of the songs that i’m struggling with or need to remember better.
