STRENGTHS AND SKILLS

Song Writing

  • I can confidently write chord progressions on guitar and keyboard using major, minor, diminished and pretty much any add chord e.g(Cadd9, Cadd11) I have a lot more expiernce writing progressions on the guitar so they will be more complex but either way it is a good.
  • With guitar I can write strong melody’s and lead parts and confidently use a variation of scales to match the chord progression and key of the song. I have written plenty of songs in the past writing drum parts, bass parts, keys and guitar both rhythm, lead and whatever little things that get added, I am glad I can say I have experience writing with a range of instruments.
  • I am starting to get used to writing lyrics and melody’s using my voice while playing a random progressions, I think this is a very important and useful skill considering I want to write songs for a lot of my career.

Singing

  • I have started to get used to singing in performances and using microphones, this is helpful to me as it helps build stage confidence and just gradually build on my voice the more comfortable I am with using my voice.

Guitar

  • I am a pretty able guitarist of 2 years. I am comfortable with my instrument and I am really happy with what I have got out of 2 years of playing. I know the notes of the fret board, I know a range of simple boring open chords to cool and complex chords like major7s or augmented chords things like this.
  • I know my scales and modes and can improvise a half decent solo and some nice lead parts to complement the song, whatever that would be. I should be okay in any key.
  • I recently have gotten into finger style guitar, this way if playing is a lot harder than what I was used to say. a year ago but once you get the hang of it you really can make some beautiful sounds and songs with this technique such as Children by Robert Miles and a few classical pieces from Bach, Mozart and Beethoven all put into one song called Classico by Tenatious D.

Bass Guitar

  • I am also learning bass as I would like to not be a super reliant musician and to be able to play a range of instruments. I have been learning of octaves, thirds, fifths and plenty of tricky Jam songs to keep me practicing correct technique and to keep me busy playing for motivation not like I need it though as most instruments are very fun any way.
