Live Sound

What are monitors? Monitors are are speakers that will go in front of the performers on stage and they are there so that the people on stage can hear themselves clearly and any one else they may want to hear to help them get the set perfect for the audience. Personally I would make sure the drums, vocals are boosted the most and a little bit more of bass so I can get a good mixture of instruments to tell me where we are in the song I also prefer to hear my self a reasonable amount over the rest so I can definitely hear my self.

How do they work? They can be controlled by plugging them into a sound desk and adjustments around with the volume, frequencies and different effects for the instruments or vocals for whatever the musicians prefer

They are important because without these wedges the performers would have a very hard time keeping in time with each other and the bands over all performance will not be as good as it would if you had the sound clarity from the monitors

What is a full range speaker? A full range speaker displays all of the possible frequency for humans from low bass to high treble. The importance of this speaker is crucial because all the frequencies for the audience and the performers need to be heard.

What is a sub speaker? A sub speaker is used for all of the really low bass frequencies often produced by a kick drum or bass guitar. The importance of the speakers are without the speaker the really low bass frequencies cant be heard and it wont sound good.

Health and Safety considerations are we have to be careful about if they are set up right meaning all the cables and power supply is plugged into the right places and all the cables running into the digital stage box or any cable for that matter are all nice and tucked away safely or coiled to avoid trips or any kind of fall,The weight of these speakers and monitors needs to be knows as these things can sometimes be hanging from a roof and if the right precautions are not taken then it could fall and hurt someone or even if it doesn’t hurt any one thats still a lot of money so make sure it can be supported no matter where it is set up. The monitors need to be correctly spaced out and made so its not in the way to trip over and fall.

If you are adjusting the gain by the sound desk you would tell the person on the instrument to play as they would inna song the same amount of power behind a strum they would in the performance and then check the level at the top right of the sound desk and turn the gain nob down or up to balance the green on the number zero.

To adjust or select reverb you would select the speaker you want to hear it come out of on the right middle of the sound desk and then the top filter (on the right of the monitor selection) There should be plate reverb you would select it and then move the faders of whatever the musician wants reverb on.
