EVALUATION

My aim for this project was to be able to write another song to challenge my self as I wrote a song for the last project. I feel I haven’t completed this goal as of yet as there is still a lot of lyrics to be written, overall down to the drum, guitar, and leading a band I feel it went well for the first time trying to write a rock song.

We started with an idea I had made at home in the past I suggested it as it had a catchy intro when we first tried to do any thing with the song it went really bad we couldn’t communicate and we were both struggling. The next day I had a guitar lesson and was told a suggestion for the song but It didn’t end up fitting with the thing I wanted from this song and I just ended up getting really distracted from my original idea crowed with loads of suggestions for the song, when I got home from work that night I was trying to go back it the original idea and found a verse that we could use with the song and it worked since I had a bit of time on the weekend I was able to adapt it and make it a little more sharper and in time.

It all started really slow at first we weren’t in time, we couldn’t even make a verse our band chemistry was non existent. We practised as much as possible and on the third Wednesday we had a lot more structure on the song with a intro, verse, chorus. We started working well with each other too, we finally found a way to communicate after what felt like eternity of talking to a Spanish person but we got there and it started working.

On the fourth Wednesday we were on form we ended up getting more of a complete structure for the song which ment we could start working on a outro the idea started of as we would do a outro that would be similar to the intro but the idea got scrapped now the plan is to end it on the 2nd chorus and drag out the last chord while the drummer goes crazy and hits every symbol known to man.

It took a while to start off but I feel I have learned a few new things from the project like getting better working with others, directing a band and I feel I got better at teaching too so I’ve taken alot from this task. I feel I have achieved my goal, although I did want to write lyrics for the song I ended up leaving it because I haven’t found a good way to do it yet but I will that is m next goal, songwriting

Today we recorded the song properly in the studio. We had to do a good few takes because there was little sections of the song we just couldn’t get right on both of our parts so we took a break came back and did 2 more takes and we got a take we was happy with the track before lunch so that’s the one we used.It is not perfect I use the chords in the wrong order on the second verse and the drums was a bit early in one of the opening of the verses. At the start of the day me and Mikey started to help set up the studio, we moved the drums into the studio. the monitors, amp and guitar. I decided to use a Fender Telecaster sunburst Squire, I figured telecaster has a large range of capability with tones and different styles so it would work fine for a simple indie rock song. It dosent seem like a full song because there is a lack of lyrics, bass and another guitar. But just because the project is over dosent mean I cant keep working on it so I plan to. I feel we could of worked harder towards lyrics and other sections of the song but overall as my first attempt I feel it went alright and I’m glad I have learned from this project.I do really want to get lyrics into this song though I know this project is ending so I will do it in my own time
