Assessment

I can confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.

Context – Excellent

Looking into music therapy specifically in care homes and looking into community music as a whole helped me understand how our performance could impact the care home residents that we were performing for and I think it was beneficial overall for knowing how to present myself on the day.

Research – Excellent

My research for the professional development pages was detailed and linked to my own impressions with the universities I visited this term on open days. I think I understand why I want to go where I want above anywhere else more clearly and it has made it easier to compare universities using individual pages.

The work placement pages are full of relevant and accurate information about Bradford’s music scene. I’m proud of how much I managed to go into in this part of the project.

Problem solving – Good

The only problem we encountered was band members being absent often, but we were able to rehearse effectively regardless.

Planning and production – Excellent

The set-list order was managed by students to better fit the environment and avoid really bit energy jumps between each song, and ending on Christmas songs was intended to be soothing. All of us were able to play comfortably and well in front of a small audience.

Practical skills – Excellent

I think I have developed my practical skills a lot this project despite not taking any solos, as I feel like I have learnt a lot about jazz guitar and how I can make rhythmically interesting parts. Plus, I took a lead part and was able to play it comfortably which I don’t think I would have done so comfortably before this project.

Evaluation and reflection – Excellent

In response to last project’s targets, I made sure I put plenty of time into evaluation and tried structuring it in a way that would make it easier for me to do, which was starting with bullet points while watching the rehearsals and performance back, then writing it out in full so I could add additional information and word it properly.

Presentation – Good

My on-stage presentation was fine, it was fitting for the space we were in and the audience and I made sure to engage with some of the audience, like smiling at the people who were swaying or dancing along and looking up often.
