Level 2 Initial assessment

Evaluation –

What went well: I learnt this song in a day and i had never done this type of shuffle technique before so i had to learn it quickyly to learn the rest of the song. I was (most of the time) in time with the song and each of the notes were equal in sound which complements the song more.

What went wrong: Sometimes i didnt palm mute the stings right so they ressonated a more twangy sound which doesnt sound right for this song. Also sometimes when i jumped into the chorus i was silghtly out of time. You can also hear sometime that my picking was too hard and can tell i felt a bit under pressure .

What i can improve on: For a start i could of set up the sound a bit better as the sound of the song just doesnt cut through the sound of my guitar that well so i could place the speaker in a better area . I could also try look more presentable and not constantly look down all the time (so more practice). My picking definetly sometimes was too hard and tight and i just need to practice and relax a bit more. Most important thing is that sometimes i was out of time but i could fix that with more practice.

3 Targets for Improvement:

  1. Playing atleast 2 hours a day, so i can get used to my insturent more and keep learning.
  2. Timing, so i can be a more functional and dependable player.
  3. Learning how to play without looking so i can gain more feel and focus what i want to play more in my head.
