Video
Editing
When edited I did many different things to keep the audiences attention. The first major thing is adding chapters to my video so audiences can easily go through the video seeing how long each part is and then maybe skipping a part they already know about. This is proven to work as “Mrwhosetheboss” created a video talking about how adding chapters to his videos made his retention graph (how long viewers have watched the video for) went up drastically.

To separate these different sections within the actual video I just had a still image of what the section was about with a title so you know what it is about.

To make the edits more interesting and keep things fresh, I decided to add several green screen effects through out the video which made the video seem a lot more unique. These effects did not only make the video seem funnier but it also helped distinguish me as a creator and added a level of individualism that is recognisable by the viewer.
In this shot, I talk about the bantam on top of the clubs badge being cool. For comedic effect, I added an MLG sort of call of duty type effect on top, which I’m sure audiences know is in an ironic context.

In this shot showing the title for “the beginning” section of the video, I added white rays coming down and angelic music in the background. This is showing that this would be the birth of the football club, and joking that the club is being birthed down from the heavens. I think this sort of effect adds a lot of humour and comedy to the video which viewers would really enjoy.

I also used arrows to show what in the video I was talking about or showing where the audience should be looking through-out the video.
For example, in the scene below I used arrows to point to the different sections of the clubs badge. I did this while I explained the different sections and story behind the parts in this complex badge. I also added a ding sound effect every time an arrow was placed on the screen to bring the audiences attention over to it.

Here I used the arrows to show where about Bradford was in the English Football League at that time in history. This was a thing that came back several times through-out the video and I feel made the audience understand how the leagues work in a very easy way, which can be difficult for people who don’t understand football to understand.

I also didn’t think a camera would work well with this video, from evidence from my research and the videos I analysed having no camera, I decided to just do a voice over in GarageBand. I then placed the audio file into Premiere Pro and began editing.

The editing process in general took about 5 hours as I had 20 minutes of audio I had to edit through, and then either had to create or find graphics to fit with it. It also took a long time adding keyframes and others to the video to make it more interesting and pleasing to watch for the viewer.

Promoting & Feedback
When promoting my video I decided to post it to a group on facebook dedicated to Bradford City fans. I decided this would be the best ways to promote it as they would all be interested in the topic and Facebook has a comment feature which I could use to get feedback.

As you can see from the image below, most if not all of the feedback was glowingly positive. Andrew Smith said “Kept me interested and good humoured” and even though he was not in the age demographic for this video because of how the video was edited where it can be enjoyable it shows that he still enjoyed it, which is something I’m very proud to have achieved.
Louis Leach said “It would be interesting to see it when complete.” which while I feel like the video is complete as a simplified and summarised version of the clubs history, I do see that there is also other minor things in the clubs history that I didn’t touch on. However, anything left out was entirely on purpose to keep the video short and entertaining without going into boring detail with other minor parts of the clubs story.

The comments on the YouTube were also very positive. @rhyssamuel7908 said “Valley Parade is a nice stadium. I very much enjoyed my trip earlier this year.” and his profile picture is the badge of Crawley Town, one of Bradford’s opponents in League 2. This shows that even though he supports another football club which plays AGAINST Bradford, he still clicked on the video and enjoyed it enough to leave a comment.
