Assessment

Context – Merit – I struggled with evidencing my understanding of context in a definite way until the later stages of the project, but it is weaved nicely into my work throughout so I think a merit is befitting.

Research – Merit – When researching, I found some great resources but I would argue that my reflections on them lacked depth, and I didn’t quite take enough away from them. I completed a good amount of research which was relevant to my project, though, which pleases me.

Practical Skills – Distinction – I believe that, as I took on a great challenge here, I did very well overall. I improved as a guitarist and bassist over the project, as well as learning how to do basic finger drumming on the Launchpad. Not only this but I showed good proficiency in understanding and problem solving whilst performing in a completely new style, using the Ableton Push 2.

Evaluations/Reflections – Merit – Whilst I did plenty of evaluating and reflecting over the course of this project, at times I struggled to turn those evaluations into concrete improvements. I also believe that I lacked quantity when looking back at my rehearsals. However, the work I did in this area was to a high standard so I would give myself a merit.

Overall – Merit – I am happy with the work I produced in this final project, even if the realisation wasn’t how I envisioned. Looking back at the entire body of work, plenty of it is to a high standard. While I am disappointed that I don’t feel able to give myself a distinction, I know what to do to improve for next year and reach a point where I feel like I can.

I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
