Initial Assesment

Here is my initial assement of me playing Bring Me to Life by Evanescence.

I chose to play this piece because there were a lot of pinch harmonics and I gave it my best at playing them.
Another reason why I chose this piece was because I simply like the band Evanescence and one of my favourite songs.
This song have a lot of power chords and pinch harmonics which I liked.

The good thing about this piece was that I learned the whole song in just 2 days and gave it my best at playing it also I tried to copy their tone of guitars by looking up amp settings and what pedals they use.
What I used to achieve this tone was use my 15w amp with the same settings the band uses and a crunch distortion that I set to my liking.
Also for this initial assessment I played with a backing track because in my previous assessment I just played a single guitar part with no backing track.

The things that didn’t go well was that I didn’t play as many pinch harmonics, for me this piece feels rushed maybe because I just wanted to finish the piece as fast as possible. I practiced playing is before hand but it still felt rushed. I managed to hit one in the beginning of the song but that was pretty much it I gave it my best at trying to hit all of them again because I was in a rush at finishing the assessment, If I played it a second time it would have sounded a lot better.

This piece would have sounded better if I wasn’t in such a hurry trying to finish the piece. also the quality of the video could be better if I used a better amp with a different pedal also if I improved on my techniques of playing pinch harmonics.

SMART Target-

Specific- I would like to improve on my pinch harmonics

Measurable- I am going to record myself practicing the same song once a week until I manage to hit each pinch harmonic in the song then I am going to learn another song that includes pinch harmonics.

Achievable- As of now I can sometimes hit a pinch harmonic, all I have to do is work on my thumb placement and know where the sweet spot is for hitting a pinch harmonic.

Relevant- It is relevant to me because some of the solos I would like to play include pinch harmonics.

Time-bound- I would like to have this done by the end of project 4
