Assessment

Context: Good – I have shown ambitious by willing to take all the opportunities the projects have given, like going to a school to perform in the ensemble project and taking leadership during the music workshop. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone to learn something new in each project, like taking leadership in the community workshop.

Research: Satisfactory – I researched a lot on how to brand yourself in the best way but I more just asked questions on how to improve on my performances. If I were to do it again, I’d of researched collaborative skills in a band and looked into how to make it fair so that everyone has a fair chance to speak up. I’d also of researched about how to grab the attention of 16-18 year olds better for the community workshop.

Problem Solving: Excellent – I did a lot of problem solving, especially in the ensemble groups. 9/10 times, we didn’t have a singer so we practiced to a track and then we’d try run through with other singers and just as an instrumental track so that we covered all aspects. In the community workshop, sometimes we just went with it because the class were quite chatty so we had to keep them focused and just act like we knew what we were doing.

Planning and Production: Good – We planned as much as we could for the community workshop but it always goes different and off track when you’re actually with a group of people, especially chatty ones, but I’d say our planning and production were successful because we successfully helped the create 3 tracks. In the ensemble groups, we planned with the people we could but it was still a little unprepared because we just didn’t have a singer for most of it.

Practical Skills: Excellent – I really practiced all the songs I had to play to the original tracks and at lunch time performances with 3 different singers. I had the timing really tight because I’d practiced to the track and I was really confident in performing because I did the lunch time performances. I showed a variety of skills with arppegiating the right hand and dropping in and out, as well as a slightly complex left hand on the Adele song.

Evaluation and Reflection: Good – I tried to explain in as much detail as I could, using the correct terminology and providing evidence of my notes.

Presentation: Good – I’ve provided evidence of my notes, photos of the board and my notebook notes as well as Harvard referencing. I’ve included written footage of all my evaluations. However, I could’ve included video footage too.

Overall Grade: Good – I think I could’ve included more research and probably presented my work in a variety of ways instead of just footage. However, I did do a lot of problem solving and I’d say my practical skills have improved a lot more in these projects, as well as my confidence in performing and leading.
