Injustice gods among us

DC COMICS-Injustice Gods Among Us Graphic Novel | Newbury ComicsGame title: injustice gods among us

Year of release: 2013 Game developers: NetherRealm studios

What made the game good? What made injustice gods among us good is that it had multiple characters from the dc universe which also had a coherent story line which is based on the comic line injustice. And it also had good character designs and good graphics. This has a wide range of characters as well. Such characters that like batman, superman, wonder women, flash, green lantern, joker and etc and also including additional DLC characters that would later added in the game. The game also has different campaign modes such as single player you could play through arcade mode, it also has other modes like a story mode which allows to play through story which spans over multiple chapters and you can get to play as some of your favourite characters from the DC universe, there are other modes like star labs where you can do different missions and challenges and if you complete these challenges you can unlock new stuff like exclusive titles profile pics and different skins for different characters depending on which one you are playing with and you also get to level up and increase your stats even do multiplayer and play online

What roles would’ve have been needed to make it?

The roles that would’ve been included

  • Game designer- pitching the idea for the game and what the story is going to be
  • Storyboard artist- planning out the story in the game
  • Script- if there are cutscenes you would need some dialogue
  • Concept artist- the one that does creates/sketches the character design
  • 3d modelling- using the concept to construct and make the character 3d and more detail to it.
  • Level designer- the one that creates different levels and stages that fit with either the storyline or character or even both.
  • Animator- the ones that animate the characters movement and play style
  • Programming- programming/coding the characters movement in the game and how they interact with the environment in the game.
  • Effects – they create some assets and animate them to make it fit in with either environment or characters.
  • Environment artist – they use or create different textures and apply them in the game world during production
  • Network programming – They would replicate the moves for other campaign modes such as multiplayer, but the downside to this is that they would be bad connection issues on either ends if you are playing online.
  • Game tester- A game tester role would basically test the gameplay to see if it works and operate well and to make sure that there is no glitches in the game and makes sure that everything in the game is scripted and to make sure the coding is done correctly.

What could have been done to improve it?

They could have improved some of the character’s special attack and be more creative with some of the character’s power set. For example, superman special attack is that he grabs the opponent and punches them in upwards in to space and flies into space and punches them back to the ground. This special attack is basic and could be improved a lot because superman as a popular character has a larger power set and could use heat vision and freeze breath in all sorts of ways and also use his speed. These power sets not only could it be used for base attack but could also be utilized in his special attack.

Does there need to be any consideration for legal and ethical issues?

They would need permission to use these characters in order to make this game or licences the characters as the people who made the game don’t own the characters. If the people who were making this game and didn’t ask permission or licence the character it count as copyrighting. Another ethical consideration is that people that are sensitive to flashy effects and extreme lighting could be affected by this. For example, if there is a collision between green lantern and sinestro the effects and colors that are used on the characters could affect the player/viewer because its different colors mixing together and having flashy effect. In order to prevent this could tone down the colors a little and make the colors a little darker. Another ethical consideration is some people could be color blind and would not be able to which character is which.
