As part of their Collaborative Project module, the Level 5 Music and Film students worked together on a project producing an EP and performance of original music. This project combined lots of different skills that the students have learnt, including songwriting, performance, recording, mixing and events management. In addition to this, they also developed their collaborative and problem solving skills, working together to produce a high quality final EP, documentary and showcase.
As part of this project the students travelled up to some accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales, set up a recording studio, and then recorded the tracks from scratch. The Film students came too and filmed the process, including both the recording of the music and some interviews.
Upon arriving back at College, the students then mixed the tracks, created the artwork, edited the documentary and practised the songs so they could be performed live. The final part of the project was a live showcase night, which was organised by Carys as part of her role. At this event the students performed the songs they had recorded, and the documentary was premiered.
Here is a link to the final documentary.
And here is a good news article about the project that was written for the College website.
