The project aim was to execute a successful live music gig by promotion, organising logistics, designing and performing. We were all given different roles in the organisation of the gig which we had to carry out to the best of our ability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started by learning the roles of all my classmates so I knew where to mitigate and who needed to do what. This part took longer than expected because I was coming in to this project completely blind to what an event manager actually was. But after ironing out these issues and beginning to take the whole process more seriously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the biggest problems that came up where to do with the misunderstanding between college staff wich lead to the gig being moved forward over an hour. due to the quick communication between us and the public we managed to get most of the audience there at an earlier time witch shows we managed it well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The audience received the gig very well, this is partially due to it being a standing gig with encouraged audience participation and movement. It also helped how there was a Halloween theme to the gig which encouraged the festive vibe we wanted to convey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We all communicated well as a class which led to overall success, I tried to encourage us to all talk and be on the same page by holding regular meetings in class to discuss all of our ideas. We also went around peoples rehearsal sessions to ask questions and answer any that the bands may of had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My practical skills improved throughout this project especially with singing in higher ranges thanks to the critique of singing coach Eric. A lot of the songs we chose to perform were quite ambitious so I’m happy that they went well. In future I need to learn the lyrics a lot better though. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, in this project I learnt a lot about how gigs are organised and a lot of the things that go on behind the scenes such as the logistics and legal proceedings that have to happen for events to take place. It also provided good insight in effective promotion material for other gigs that I’m going to do in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
