The purpose of this project is to preform in front of an audience and clearly show the process leading up to this show involving the safety of it, the sound mixing for it, all stages of practicing together and practicing alone witch i believe i have successfully shown a majority of my learning process throughout.
In lesson i received feedback that i needed to zoom into more depth when evaluating and be more specific on how to fix these issues in the future. Since then i have looked through and evaluated more rather than just stating facts, this also helped my learning process because i could adapt and learn more about arias that could be improved before it is graded.
This project contributed to my understanding of the live music industry along with the practical and technical aspects of being a preforming musician by learning many of the steps that need to be taken before a performance. It has given me a better understanding of how to remain safe, professional and finding arias to improve on. An aria that i need to improve on in future projects is the more technical sound tech aria because right now i do not have a great knowledge of how to control and mix sound properly.
When doing my research i gained a good knowledge of what feeling i need to convey through my instrument. I feel this was most shown through my Crocodile Rock performance with my incorporation of the typical rock and roll rhythm. To better this further i could have researched more about the chords to add a more unique and interesting sound by extending them, and memorized the tempo better.
In some of the practices i learnt about how to adjust monitor levels to accommodate to different peoples needs as well as finding a nice mix of instruments, volume wise, for the audience without causing feedback or distortion. It was nice to be on the technical side rather than the performance side because i learnt how to act during sound checks and what to ask when something doesn’t sound right from the stage witch is important for a performer to know.
In future i would like to go down the production route but its still important to gain as much knowledge as possible in every field of the music industry because they all overlap in different ways. Some examples of this are its important to have good knowledge of an instrument when song writing, it helps a lot to be able to play piano when recording music and live sound overlaps a lot with both the hard wear and soft wear controls. Improving my knowledge of theory can help massively pairing a good melody to lyrics.
Some other things that i could have done in this project is promoted it a lot more on social medias so a lot more people are aware that its happening. We did do well at the putting the posters up around Bradford since it targets a lot of local people witch is the main demographic of people who would attend. But apart from this i believe we achieved most of the things we wanted to.
In conclusion, i enjoyed the performance and the lead up to it a lot. For future projects i need to improve aspects of my guitar and singing ability’s witch i will continue to work on. In future i would like to do more live performances because its very exiting and i enjoy it. It would have been good to get more info about crocodile rock in my evaluating but due to choosing to do it a week before the performance it was i dont have as much to comment on.
