My spider diagram that I did in my sketchbook to come up with ideas on what I could do for my concept.

What is Fear?
Fear is an emotional response to perceived threats or danger. It can be a reaction to a specific situation, object, or event, and it often triggers a physiological response in the body. such as increased heart rate or adrenaline release. Fear can be useful as it helps protect us from harm, but it can also become overwhelming or irrational in certain situations. It can vary in intensity from mild unease to intense terror, and everyone experiences fear differently based on their past experiences and personal perceptions.

Research and experimentation
During the project I looked at different fabrics and different styles around dolls, In particular they have lots of frills on their dresses and pleats and puffed sleeves etc. I always liked the frilly look on dolls and the different ruffles, I decided to incorporate samples of some ruffles into my book, in the process of making them, I learned how too thanks to my mentor and the help of a book about frills.

I did a colour palette from different pieces of fabric for further development and to get an idea of what kind of colours I could go for when making my final piece.

Whilst I was still in thought about making a garment I gathered images from the vogue magazine Italy and did some research around the photos and all the elements that could have been incorporated. Meanwhile I also dived deep into my concept and researched about dolls and nyctophobia, and discovered some fascinating information such as the doll island in Mexico city, the Anabelle doll case and the overall concept itself and what is it about the collision and dolls and dark areas that makes The two elements so terrifying. Furthermore I drew out small torsos of doll dresses getting a better Idea of how I could have styled my garment.

During sessions In the workshop we created print designs inspired by our concepts, First by creating it onto a wooden slab from different materials and painting it with different inks, then using the ink machine to print it onto paper.

From looking at a book on Zandra Rodes I noticed how her dresses were quite puffy like a doll and I found this design and it reminded so much of one with the big sleeves so I added that into my book and printed some information about her and the things she did also adding that into my book.

Whilst I was still thinking about making a garment I experimented with calico fabric on the mini mannequin, thinking how I could have made my garment look doll like with an eerie setting towards it, I took some inspiration from the scars that chucky had on his face from my mood board and incorporated that into my sampling.

This was the sketched out design of the garment I would have made on the mini mannequin.

For further experimentation I did some more sampling and made another practice garment from calico, I made a skirt from looking at the sketched out design I had in mind and added in the scar element from chucky along the pleated design of the skirt.

Adding the skirt I made with the scars onto the mannequin I also made the top part and added some frills I found from bits of scrap materials in the studio, This was an idea of how the garment would have looked along with the other details from the design I had in mind.

I changed my mind from making a garment to making a presentation board after receiving feedback from a mentor, also due to the lack of time I had to create an actual garment. Here I made the board and added bits of work and the experiments I did also different images of dolls and also the images of nyctophobia to evoke the spooky atmosphere along with other elements, this was my final piece.
