Sound – Ashley and I had a few meetings about sound and we have spoke about where we need sfx and what kind of effects we are looking for. We chose to look through the script together, find where we had to put sound effects and then he took on act 1 of finding the sound effects and I took on act 2 and found some SFX.
This is the playlist we came up with.

We thought these sounds worked well because in pantomime everything tends to be an over exaggerating kind of funny. The cues for the music are: Bad Guy by billie Eilish Act 1 Scene 1 for the queens entrance on the blackout. Dynamite by Bts for Scene 2 (the opening scene) the spoken cue for this is “yes, i will have to kill show white, HAHAHAHAHA.” 9 to 5 in Scene 2 for Nurse Natters entrance, the spoken cue for this is “if anyone goes near those flowers, you shout for me. bye.” Accidentally in love from Shrek for Scene 3, the spoken cue will be “its making me want to do the same too…” Celebration by Kool and The Gang for the opening of Scene 4, the spoken cue is “Hi snow white i need you to come with me quickly.” Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Show for Scene 4, the spoken cue is “Good, lets dance to my favourite song of all time.” We Will Rock You for the Dwarfs Entrance in Scene 6 and every other time they enter. When will my life begin from Rapunzel for Scene 7, the spoken cue is “I think i will give it a once over.” Bad by Michel Jackson for Scene 8, the spoken cue is “i feel a little song coming along.” Lost in the woods from frozen 2 for Act 2 Scene 1, the spoken cue is “i wonder what will unfold in act 2.” Rainbow Connection for scene 4 after the kiss. Best day of my life for scene 4, the spoken cue for this is “here is what we are going to do.” Don’t stop believing for scene 6, the spoken cue is “let’s do it.” And accidentally in love for the bows.
Lighting- when we’re in the queens castle we could use a purple or red light to show tension and evil because the evil Queen is portrayed as a bad or mean character.
When we’re in the royal palace we could use a white or yellow light to show kindness and like it’s a nice place to be as Snow White and the comedy leads who are portrayed as the funny or nice characters are usually in these scenes.
For snow whites party during the celebration dance we could use disco lights.
For the Forrest scene we could use a dark green light because green can represent a Forrest.
For the dwarfs cottage we could use a spot light for snows solo or when the dwarfs come on you could use a light green or blue light as they are minors.
Set ideas- we can draw and paint bushes and trees on big boards for when we’re in the forest scenes. We can also make a mini bed for the dwarfs cottage and have small items like a small fridge, small broom and a small door because the dwarfs are small. For the mirror we can have a cut out boarder with some sparkly curtains attached. We could also use a projector to project the name of the show or to project a forest effect in the back ground.

Mallet for scene 5.
Small Mallet for Keith in scene 6. A mini fridge with half a sausage roll, marmite, water and chocolate for scene 7.

Rehearsal schedule:
Risk assessment- A risk assessment is a chart where it explains what hazards could happen, who is at risk, how you can control this hazard, the likelihood of it happening and how bad of an injury it would be. It is put in place so everyone knows what to look out for before performing and so you can eliminate and reduce health and safety risks.
Hazard | Who is at risk? | Actions to be taken | Likelihood (of it happening) 1-5 | Risk rating 1-5 |
Set falling | All performers | Make sure the set is secure on stage and try use light weight set where you can. | 2 | 3 |

Lights sparking/ setting on fire. | Performers, audience and staff. | Lighting crew making sure lights are looking good and not alarmingly hot. | 1 | 3 |
Tripping/ falling over props onstage. | Performers | Make sure when you’re bringing props onstage they’re not just left laying around. | 2 | 1 |
Marketing- We can make posters and put them up around the college or we could advertise it on social media and share it with family and friends. On the poster we would have the title of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs The Pantomime’. The time which would be 2pm show and 6pm show. The date ‘Thursday 14th December’ and warnings like ‘flash warning’. We would also have a nice background that draws people to the poster. We can also make a programme which will have photos of us in costume and next to it it says what roles were playing and the song names and the scenes were doing. We will also need a poster for our snacks and drinks, the price and any allergy information.
This is one of the posters the marketing team have made already.
Our posters would look something like these ones.
What went wrong – The set crew painted a set design on a piece of board that would have been too heavy to put onstage just incase it fell on someone so we couldn’t use it. We had to remove some jokes or change them as they would have been too inappropriate to the audience who were kids.
