What Is A Journalist.

A journalist is someone who gathers information and puts out for the public to see like magazines, websites, youtube videos and audiobooks.

The roles within Journalism.

A journalist can also be known as a reporter for they write stories on a range of topic like sports, culture and entertainment. Also they are responsible for writing about real life events without using a fair and unbiased perspective.

A photojournalist use photos to be able to tell the story alongside text so that that it helps the viewer articulate what the story is about.

What is bias?

Bias is when someone tells one side of the story but leave out the other side.

How to eliminate bias from my own content?

I will research more in depth by watching video’s and research what source of information is reliable like article’s that won’t won’t have a bias view.

Roles

  • Establishing and maintaining contacts.- Having access to people who know where to get a hold of the person you want to interview.
  • Interviewing sources- to gather information from them like their opinion’s and facts.
  • Writing, editing and submitting copy- to make the information you have collected accessible for other people.
  • Attending events- So that people can collect more information.
  • proofreading- To make sure there are no errors in the text that is going to be published.
  • verifying statements and facts- Checking to see if the information you have gathered is 100% true.
  • Staying up to date with privacy, contempt and defamation law- making sue you say things that won’t destroy another person’s reputation.
  • Liaising (Working with) editors, sub-editors, designers and photographers- A producer of a news or current affairs programme coordinates the content, working in collaboration with presenters or other programme contributors.

presenter is the voice (radio) or face (TV) of the show. He or she welcomes the audience to the show, interviews guests, reads news, shares information, reads off autocues, and prompts audience participation.

reporter reports on news. Like any other news journalist, broadcast reporters source, research and write stories. However, interviews are always recorded or filmed and rather than writing a print story, a reporter writes a script for a news package.

Broadcast journalism also requires a sound technician who is responsible for all sound recorded. TV news requires a camera crew.

The camera operator sets up cameras and shoots interviews and scenes. A grip is the person who looks after the equipment required to make a TV camera move.
