Self Evaluation For Level 2 Project 4

My initial idea was to make a short film about depression and suicide, I wanted to spread a message for people suffering from depression that there is always people around that can help. Unfortunately due to time restraints and availability issues, my creative media teachers advised me to make a trailer. This meant I was less stressed about completing the film and focused on filming scenes for my trailer.

Doing a trailer has helped me adapt to using Adobe Premiere.

I planned on filming scenes for my trailer that I planned on using to complete my short film next year. I was frustrated when an actor said that he did not want to be a part of my short film but I have changed my ideas for the future.

This was an extremely massive blow as my original plans were to hopefully film more scenes for next year and edit my short film on Adobe Premier but I will now have to rewrite the script and change some characters because of this actor not wanting to be in my short film.

I have decided to replace the character of Ethan with another character called Jaime who is Rebecca’s mother’s boyfriend who was fired from her job and is lazy and drinks a lot.

Also I have found out, my Creative Media teacher Lucy who I casted for the role of Miss Heliwell will be leaving, which has made me realise that I cannot use the parents evening scene of her, for I have to cast someone else for the role.

I have decided to overcome this challenge by doing a casting call on teams and requesting the drama students that want to be apart of my short film to send me an audition. of themselves.

I enjoyed working and collaborating with other students like my assistant director(Leon Whiting) for he has helped come up with better ideas and also working with my main actor(Hannah Butterworth) who I thought was perfect for the role.
