My idea is to make a short film that follows follows themes of bullying and suicide. The short film is called There is always someone there and is about a girl called Rebecca who is going through depression after her father has passed away and is being bullied. She has a half brother called Ethan who was the result of Rebecca’s mum having an affair with her boss. Rebecca’s mum’s personality has changed after her husband died for she is strict towards Rebecca and has massive expectations of Rebecca.
She doesn’t listen to Rebecca’s side of the story when her half brother Ethan annoys her which leads to her retaliating for Rebecca’s mum tries to justify Ethan behaviour by making excuses like telling Rebecca that Ethan has got special needs and he is her younger brother.
Rebecca is being harassed by a group of three bullies that enjoy bullying her and find great satisfaction and enjoyment in bullying her.
In the ending of my short film the main character Rebecca is about to commit suicide but a staff member she likes called Mr Long puts his hand in Rebecca’s should showing us the audience that there is always someone to talk to for help.
The inspiration behind this short film come from a short film that follows themes of depression called I’m here too.
