Self Evaluation For Level 3 Project 4

I found the whole process for making my video but also encountered some problems like the strict deadline and not being able to have an extension. At first it was easy for me to come up with the idea because a friend (Favour Bakare) of mine who is the student representative introduced me to the Students Union. So it was relevant at the time because Favour was applying for a position in the students Union which was the Students Union Officer For Education And Wellfare Officer for Further Education, this is one of the factors for me to do this project alongside applying my skills in media.

Some of the things, I believe, worked well was being able to complete the project on time by just only including my interviews with Shazia (Students Education And Welfare Officer For Higher Education) and Maqadas (Students Union President). Also, I got all my templates done on time for my pre production. I also made the interviews as natural as possible so that my guests felt comfortable. One of my Creative Media tutors, Paul collaborated with me to record my interviews in the TV Studio, using the professional equipment. It was a lot easier then having a big team to manage because Paul was just one person that I needed and he has a lot of experince and knows how the equipment works. Also our schedules matched which made organising easier. Furthermore, the TV Studio was free most of the time which helped my access it whenever i needed it.

On the other hand, there were some issues. The first one was the equipment for in the Interview that I did with Maqadas, I had to use a lapel mic, which made things even harder sync up the footage. Even editing my interview with Shazia, I had to sync up some of the footage because the Interview was in two parts when I uploaded the files on the Mac for one part of the interview, had everything from my perspective and the other had everything from Shazia, so I had to mix and match up the different clips. I did experience some issues with arranging the interviews for there were some people that didn’t reply back to me on Teams and others would postponed the dates of the interviews. I also did ran into some confusion for my friend Favour told me that Amer’s role was The Students Union Officer however he explained that his role was the Students Voice Coordinator.

As for what I could have done better, there is nothing I feel that I could have changed or done differently. However, I feel that had I had more time instead of having a strict deadline, then I could have interviewed more people like Amer Zaman (Student Voice Coordinator) and Zain Ahmed (Personal Development Officer). Even though, I would have wished to make the full interview and have it uploaded on the Bradford College channel, It was not feesible and also Amer did not want the video to be uploaded public on any form of Social Media.

Another thing I could have done better is have the commitment to come to college on my days off, for that we could have done more interviews then just two. At the time, I thought I could get a extension but unfortuantly I was wrong for I did Email EM, and she said no. I do sincerly wish I was able to have some more extended time so that I could make the the original video that I planned to make and also I do wish there was better equipment available. However a part of me feels that it woulden’t probably have made a huge difference for I was messaging Muhammad Saad who is the Education, Students Union Wellfare Officer For Further Education and he didn’t replay back whatsoever which was frustrating. I also did message Zain Ahmed and even he didn’t reply back. I personally think in a hypothetical scenerio where if I did fully commit to it, I probably could fit only an extra interview with Amer Zaman however I personally think there could be improvements made in the Creative Media course regarding better equipment which is what I have discussed with the Students Union.
