Self Evaluation

My main, initial idea was to make a video insert about vegan extremists like Joey Carbstrong, the Vegan Teacher and Tash Peterson and I wrote two scripts related to this. However I decided to talk about how WWE 2K25 should not include the intergender match type and MyFaction in the game. I wrote my script and a student named Sayhan helped me record my video insert using a Canan camera and a Tripod in the recording studio.

I have used ChatGPT to make the paragraphs more simple for me to understand better.

Pictures of my first attempt at recording my video insert

The problems that I faced whilst recording the video insert was forgetting to press stop on the lapel mic when taking a break. When I tried to edit my clips on Adobe Premiere, I didn’t know which clips I had to sync in and also the actual video that shows me speaking didn’t pick up any audio either. I did try to upload the clips on Teams but it did take quite a long time to upload, which made me decide to shoot my video insert again. I asked one of my Creative Media teachers (Paul Holmes) if I could use a shotgun mic alongside the Canan Camera, however he told me that the Canan cameras did not have any speakers to pick up and a slot to fit a shotgun mic so I then decided to use a tripod and my Iphone to record in the recording suite over at DHB.

When I exported my video insert on Capcut, I was not hundred percent happy with how it turned out, so I decided to do my video insert in the recording studio again, but this time I used my Iphone and Tripod. I decided to use both red and blue lights instead of just red because the WWE have two shows called Smackdown and Raw and the colours for the logos are red and blue. I recorded my video insert vertically instead of horizontally which made the red light overpower the blue one. I also decided not to specifically talk about intergender matches and MyFaction being in WWE 2K25 but about the video game as a whole.

After that I wrote my first two scripts for Sayhans introduction to my video insert and we also made a video of Sayhan revising for his video intro however afterwards we decided to shorten the script so that it would be easy for him to understand and remember.

My second video insert again

After I exported my second video insert and uploaded it on Youtube, I then decided in the one week holidays to do my video insert again when I come back to college. This was because on Capcut, I couldn’t change the aspect ratio for individual clips, however the option was available on Adobe Premiere Pro. I decided to write a new script with some small changes and paragraphs and come up with a plan which was to film my video insert again in the recording suite with a tripod and my Iphone. Once I finished filming I would upload my clips on Capcut, and make the main video at a 1:1 aspect ratio and then edit it again on Adobe Premiere Pro with the clips that I wanted at a widescreen aspect ratio. Unfortunately because of the time limit, I decided to just stick with my second video insert.

Clips that I wanted widescreen for my video insert

Reflecting back, I wish I had more time to make my third video insert as to how I exactly wanted it. I also wish that there were more professional equipment available at the time because I felt as if I was only left with two options which was either using a tripod, lapel mic and a Canon camera or a tripod and my iphone.

I also have noticed that I am more confident in using multiple softwares for the same project.

I felt very confident in introducing Sayhan’s video insert, however there were issues for example doing my introduction all over again because the footage didn’t pick up any audio. I feel that the whole process was easy for me as I tried to be very professional in introducing Sayhan’s video insert.
