Strengths and skills
During this year at college at the past 3 projects the skills I’ve learnt or improved on are timing , communication , confidence while playing , team work , control/dynamics and time management.
My timing had improved this year but can still be improved a lot more , I can achieve this by practicing with a metronome while playing drums and by practicing changing sub divisions while using it too.
Communication I think I improved on during this year while trying to make the projects go well , be more organised and helping others.
I think this year my confidence while playing was a lot better. I wasn’t nervous to play any of the gigs and I didn’t feel much pressure. When I compare this to what I was like on the first year its a big difference.
Team work I think I improved on since this year most the projects had challenges that we had to overcome as a band so team work was quite important to be able to succeed.
Dynamics I think this year I’m hitting a lot lighter but I think I could still definitely improve my dynamics and it’ll greatly improve the sound of my overall drumming.
Time management is the last skill I think I improved this year as we had to learn songs for the project and all the other work although one of the projects time management wasn’t that good I knew it was an issue and I think I learnt from it being like that.
Ive also been taking my double kick into my drum lessons so I’ve been getting lessons on that which have been helping me with double kick. The main things I’m practicing on improving on my double kick right now is technique , control and timing.
Another thing I learnt a bit more of this year was abelton I don’t normally use software so it was interesting to try and use it for a project which i also learnt some keys and chords on too.
