Project Title
Section 1:  Rationale (approx. 100 words)
During this year at college the past 3 projects the skills I’ve learnt or improved on are timing , communication , confidence while playing live , team work , control/dynamics and time management. Before this year at college I was okay at drums not good and still had a lot of weaknesses in my playing that ive been trying to fix during this year with the help of Simon (drum teacher) and practicing at home. The things ive learnt this year and last year hasn’t effected what I want to do , but it has helped me to be able to achieve it.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my FMP I am doing a hardcore band with Kieran Rhys and we also have 2 other members outside of college. We are aiming to write 8 songs and record a 4 song EP we are also gonna be putting on a gig but I don’t know if it’ll be just after fmp ends. The reason we have decided to do this is so we can write our set list for gigs outside of college , as well as being able to record an EP with the equipment so we can release a good quality recording of the songs.
The resources we will need to be able to achieve this is practice rooms , recording equipment for drums , guitar and bass and we will record vocals outside of college.
My inspirations for the music were writing are bands such as two piece, outta pocket , street solider , divine hatred , shattered realm , long goodbye , torture and snuffed on sight.
The research that will help develop this project are things such as going to see bands live and listening to hardcore bands that we like and take notes. Another thing is looking at drum or guitar cams or tabs to help understand it more. This research would help us write better and create more of the sound that we want for the band. Rhys also did some research to help him get the tone he wants , and I do the same with my kit (snare , cymbals and snare tuning).
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
During this project we will be constantly recording ourself at least twice a day so we can look back on them videos during and after the practice and listen back to see what we think and if there’s any changes we want to make that we didn’t hear while playing it. We also send the recordings into the band group chat to let the other members outside of college to add there thoughts and ideas for the songs , which we will then discuss and do and if we like it we keep it.
