Final Performance Evaluation

What was the main aim of our project, and did I/we achieve it?

Our main aim was to work together and learn 2 songs and perform them live.We learnt them during our practice and performed them.

Looking back, how could the rehearsal process have been more effective in preparing for the live performance?

If we practiced more effectively by focusing on the issues and practice them all till they’re perfect. As well as communicating as a band.

What went really well in our project and performance, and what didn’t go as planned?

I think our 2nd song went well and there were things like the hi hats not opening that was not planned.

Did we/I make any big changes to our performance along the way,and why?

We decided to change our second song to fell in love with a girl and our guitarist to also do vocals. We all learnt the 2nd song quickly and the 2nd vocals helped the band as there was an issue on the main vocalist being too quite and it also made her more confident.

How well did we work together as a team on this project?

I think at first our communication wasn’t the best because we just met and trying to learn our own parts then it got better but still wasn’t the best as some problems we didn’t talk about because we didn’t want to be mean to each over.

What did we/I learn from this project that can help us/me in thefuture?

I think playing in that setting will help me play with other musicians more in the future. As well as be more confident and my next gig , and be prepared for the issues that can come.

How did this project affect our growth as musicians andperformers?

I think this project as well as my drum lessons have helped me develop better timing , and get better at playing with others.

Were there any unexpected issues or events that impacted ourproject?

The hi hats wouldn’t open anymore halfway through the song and the amp settings weren’t correct.I would’ve liked more bass and guitar in my monitors.

How would you rate the overall success of our performance and project on a scale of 1 to 10, and why?

6 It was fun and we could play the songs well in practice rooms and there was a few mistakes at the gig.

When we started playing our first song i couldn’t hear much guitar, and the amp settings wrong because someone changed it and we got told not to touch the amps. The sound and energy of the song was bad because the hi hat closed and wouldn’t open and I didn’t know if to keep playing or to stop and open it. As well as the energy from the vocals (voice projection), (could you hear the singers). When my hi hat closed and wouldn’t open it threw me off the song for a second then I came back in.

The transition between the 2 songs wasnt the best as the guitars tones needed changing and the guitarist kept playing instead of restarting (I was hoping he would look back so I could show to restart) which threw me off and then we had to recount into it.

The transition to this song wasn’t good as it wasn’t how we practiced but coming in at the right time is my job and that’s something I need to work on myself. I think this song sounded better than the other one. I think I had better timing on this song as well as the whole band sounding better.I also think the bass should be turned up.

    Things I learnt

I learnt to be more confident, and you have to improvise sometimes when stuff mess up that are out of your control , and how it feels to play in a live setting.

Things we could’ve done better are timing especially on the first song. Communication (it did get a lot better) stage presence and being more confident.
