Timing and tempo
My timing and tempo through out my performance reasonably consistent there was some issues like speeding up a bit and I think the fills could’ve been tighter too , I’m happy with the timing and coming in at the same time , the verse after the guitar solo I came in a bit late that could’ve been tighter.
My groove and feel was constant but had issues with dynamics and some timing errors , the fills could’ve had a lot better dynamics to them too.
Technique had good control with minor errors mainly on fills. I could’ve improved the dynamics of the ghost notes and drags. The main issue was my timing.
My coordination and independence is good for this song the only bit that really needed independence was the 2nd kick in the beat. coordination was good playing ghost notes and a little drag at the end of the beat but I think I could’ve done the drag better.
The dynamics are alright they’re some dynamic contrast but I could’ve done it better like the end of the verse I slowly open my hi hats. The fills would have sounded a lot nicer if I added more dynamics to it. Chad Smith the RHCP drummer plays the song with a lot more random more open hi hats to his beats to add the perfect dynamics to it.
The fills and transitions I think I could’ve done a lot better on I would only give it a 2-2.5/5. Listening to it back they just sound unclear or like an awkward transition I need to fix the timing dynamic and accents on them. I will achieve this by practicing fills to a metronome more and try learn how to accent wherever I want in any subdivision. As well as practice playing and changing dynamics in fills.
stylistic accuracy I had some understanding of the style but its not what I normally play. I researched it like watching Chad smith play this song as well as other songs they have made. I tried to make the dynamics similar to the original but the way he plays the dynamics are hard to do especially his hi hat foot.
Stage presence was neutral I could’ve done a lot better and look like I was enjoying it. im mainly just looking at my hi hat and ride and sometimes Rhys or Bradley.
Overall impact I think it was solid and effective could still be improved but I think it was alright with a few mistakes.
Chelsea dagger
My timing and tempo on Chelsea dagger definitely need improvement. There a few issues like speeding up slowing down and my fills , especially the fill where it is crash crash snare snare because the songs drums is played in triplets and I played in quarter notes it made it awkward changing some of the parts. The bridge section from the floor tom to the ride part could all be tighter too.
Groove and feel basic groove established. I think the timing is the main reason for the groove being this low but also the dynamics could definitely be improved too. If I played the original drum part it would have better groove and feel to it too since its played in triplets.
Through out Chelsea dagger the dynamics are okay but not good , I could’ve had a lot better dynamics on the bridge and to match the energy deepening on what section of the song were on.
Fills and transitions were a bit awkward because of timing and dynamics. There was one main fill I was struggling a lot with the crash crash snare snare I played the song in quarter notes instead of triplets and the crashes match the guitar idk if that why I struggled with it or just timing though.
Stylistic accuracy I could’ve made the drums more exciting to match more the song more but I wasn’t fully confident playing this song , and I also changed some of the drum parts mainly just to quarter notes I miss some of the fills and crashes.
Stage presence I mainly just look focused looking at what im playing a lot. On the bridge ginge comes up to me and we look at each other while doing the same rhythm but im mainly looking at his guitar.
Overall Impact I would say it was solid but had uneven parts that could definitely be improved such as the fills and timing.
